You know there’s gonna be trouble when northern New South Wales’ most nihilistic post-Stooges jailbirds and Brisbane’s most offense-courting garage rumblers get there amps together for a split 7” vinyl single.
In the black corner, Raygun Mortlock, with I’ve Got Cock (If You Want It). Ladies, restrain yourselves – you’ll only catch something from them. It’s anthemic, rambunctious, offensive and far prettier to listen to than grinding broken glass into your ear-holes.
In the blue corner, The Dirty F Holes (surely a candidate for best band name ever?), with Don’t Follow Me. Atypically NOT lyrically offensive, The F Holes encourage you to follow your own path – just not the one they’re on. Good advice too, when the opening line is “I’m sick of rising broken from the place I lay my head.” A night out with these guys can only end badly for you.
This sort of bathtub-speed-fuelled nastyness isn’t for everyone, but we love a short sharp shock of vitriolic punk n’ roll, and these guys deliver that shit, and then some.
