Classic rock is far from dead – and The upcoming EP from The Dead Daisies are proof of that. Kicking off with a killer riff and great keyboards from Dizzy Reed, the title track grabs you and doesn’t let go. The guitars from David Lowy and Richard Fortus are full and compliment the vocals of Jon Stevens. The song should go over huge live, with its anthemic chorus and solid rock vibe. “Angel In Your Eyes” is a little heavier track that gives Marco Mendoza a place to stamp his bass sound on the disc. Drummer Brian Tichy adds his rhythm to the track and gives it a great groove for the rest of the players. “Your Karma” opens up with a killer scream and some exciting keyboard playing. The rest of the band kicks in and the song takes off from there. This track takes all the fun and excitement from the two previous tracks and wraps it into a cool 3-1/2 minute package that will rock you from start to finish. Covering The Beatles “Helter Skelter” is a tall order, but The Dead Daisies deliver. From the lead vocals and guitars, to the heavy rhythm section, and the keyboards and layered background vocals, this is less of a cover and more of a reimagining of the track, with a heavier classic rock twist than the original had. I cannot wait to hear what these guys launch on the public after their upcoming tour – catch them all summer long.
