RICHIE SAMBORA

With guest star Australian guitarist ORIANTHI

THURSDAY 20 FEBRUARY THE TIVOLI, BRISBANE – 18+
WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY ENMORE THEATRE, SYDNEY – Licensed All Ages

Celebrated American rock icon RICHIE SAMBORA will play just 2 intimate Sidewave shows while in the country for Soundwave Festival 2014! For the first time EVER, Australian fans will have the opportunity of a lifetime: To see one of the greatest musicians and singer- songwriters of our time performing material from his solo records with a few surprises thrown in. With three acclaimed solo albums that have highlighted a more personal and intimate side to Richie’s songwriting, (1991’s Stranger in This Town, and 1998’s Undiscovered Soul and 2012’s Aftermath of the Lowdown, which spawned the powerful single “Every Road Leads Home To You.” ) this promises to be a mind-blowing night of rock and roll!
Richie Sambora has become known throughout his remarkable 30-year career for his raw vocals, indelible songwriting and world-class guitar playing. As both an acclaimed solo artist and a founding member of multi-platinum, Grammy-winning band Bon Jovi, Richie has sold over 130 million albums worldwide and has co-written over 20 Top 40 hits and 11 Top 10 hits, including “Livin’ On A Prayer,” “You Give Love A Bad Name” and “Wanted Dead or Alive.” He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
“Not only does [Aftermath of the Lowdown] contain soul-searching songwriting, it flat-out rocks.” – USA Today

Joining him onstage will be none other than Australian singer-songwriter and guitar goddess Orianthi, who has worked as lead guitarist to some of the biggest superstars in the world (Alice Cooper, Michael Jackson).
Richie is continuously lending his vocals and support to important causes and organizations that resonate deeply with him, whether it be the Hurricane Sandy relief effort affecting his home state of New Jersey or issues regarding the environment, homelessness, illness, hunger and music education.
ALICE IN CHAINS + DOWN + WALKING PAPERS

TUESDAY 25 FEBRUARY, SYDNEY, ENMORE THEATRE – Licensed All Ages
THURSDAY 27 FEBRUARY, MELBOURNE, THE PALACE – 18+

Renowned for their distinctive vocal style Seattle rockers, ALICE IN CHAINS, have announced just 2 Sidewave shows that will see them bring their monster sound to Sydney and Melbourne stages! Having sold over 25 million albums the band emerged during the nineties as part of the Seattle grunge scene and crossed over with their critically acclaimed second album in 1992 (DIRT). The band went on to record a further 2 records with the bands 5th studio album THE DEVIL PUT DINOSOURS HERE, released last year.
“ …With their new album, ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here,’ the veteran rockers prove they can sustain their excellence. While all the things you would expect from Alice in Chains — sludgy guitars, haunting melodies, dark lyrics — are on the disc, the band shows they can still put a fresh spin on their sound.” – Loudwire.com If there ever were a metal super group to end all metal super groups, it would have to be Louisiana’s Down. Featuring members from some of metal’s premiere bands (Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and EyeHateGod). This is chemistry. This is the solution. This is the band people will lie about and say that they were into from the beginning. There is no label for what they do, as are there no labels for the bands that shared members with them. Regardless of trends, popular opinions, and changing tides, DOWN are uncompromising, unparalleled, and undeniable. They don’t merely have a cult following—they are a cult.
WALKING PAPERS, the much-buzzed-about quartet featuring former Screaming Trees/Mad Season drummer Barrett Martin, ex-Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan and vocalist/guitarist Jeff Angell and keyboardist Ben Anderson, both formerly of Seattle scene favourites, The Missionary Position. This is a band that does a lot of things brilliantly—and they do most of them on their self-titled debut, an album that’s as raw and sinewy as it is devastatingly beautiful. New York Times bestselling author and Seattle Times music critic Charles Cross calls them “the best rock band in Seattle right now.”
EAGLES OF DEATH METAL + ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT + MUTEMATH

MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY, MELBOURNE, THE HI-FI – 18+
WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY, SYDNEY, THE HI-FI – Licensed All Ages

Get ready for a ‘blissed out dirty rock ride’! EAGLES of DEATH METAL are bringing their unique blend of double – entendre boogie to Australian stages again for the first time in 7 years! Its Jesse Huges! Its sex, humour and fun! It’s churning guitars and hook-driven choruses and a band whose only agenda is to have a good time! With the band in the studio recording new music, 2014 just got a whole lot shinier!
“Hughes delivered a powerful dose of his sex-charged tongue-in-cheek ’70s swagger pastiche” – CraveOnline

Joining EoDM will be none other than ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT! Australian fans will finally get the chance to see the band after 12 long years! Adorned in flamboyantly matching attire, led by the most charismatic and energetic front man since The King himself, armed with a ferociously ska-free horn section and backed up by a legion of devout rocket-tattoo-stamped fans to boot.

Rounding out a monster night will be none other than MUTEMATH! Australian fans’ love affair with this band continues! Rooted in New Orleans rhythm and blues, fusing elements from psychedelia to traditional gospel to modern electronica, Mutemath constantly deliver anything but a conventional band experience.
“So watertight is their synergy that it makes their daring leaps of style and mood look easy, or more philosophically, an audience trusts a band who trusts each other” – tonedeaf
In reference to the band’s latest album, their third studio album and first selfproduced effort “Odd Soul”, Meany summarizes “I think the title describes this record in every context. It’s who we are, where we’ve been, and what we incidentally sound like when set to music.”
ROB ZOMBIE AND KORN

MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY, SYDNEY, BIG TOP LUNA PARK – Licensed All Ages (Korn / Rob Zombie)
WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY (SOLD OUT), MELBOURNE, THE PALACE – 18+ (Rob Zombie / Korn)

In a night guaranteed to make fans salivate, ROB ZOMBIE and KORN will take to the stage in Sydney and Melbourne with a feral, fiery and live ferocity that will be unmatchable! A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, ROB ZOMBIE has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. As a musician, ROB ZOMBIE has sold over fifteen million albums worldwide to date. Hellbilly Deluxe and Hellbilly Deluxe 2 were the albums that established Zombie as a solo artist after the breakup of multi-platinum group White Zombie. ROB ZOMBIE released his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor in April 2013 to world – wide critical acclaim!
There are plenty of yeah’s, hey’s and baby’s from Zombie himself as expected, but what wasn’t expected was some of his most infectious choruses to date……., every single song screams for a sing-along, whether on your own at your laptop or in a crowd of thousands. “White Trash Freaks” in particular is hard to resist, and when “Rock And Roll (In A Black Hole)” explodes from the little electronic beat that it’s built around into that monstrous chorus it’s an instant energy booster” – Metal Obsession

After the release of the bands eleventh studio album (The Paradigm Shift) in October 2013, roughly 35 million album sales worldwide, 2 Grammy’s and countless sold out shows, the godfathers of nu-metal, KORN, have come a long way since their iconic self-titled debut, and they haven’t stopped challenging themselves or heavy music. The members of Korn built that kind of bond back in 1993 the first time that Jonathan Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, and Brian “Head” Welch decided to make music as a unit. They shed blood, sweat, and tears in the studio and on stage, fashioning an undeniable, unsettling, and unique sound that would permanently alter the course of rock music!
“The Paradigm Shift is far from a radical change in the basic assumptions that fans make of their beloved nu-metal progenitors. Instead, on their eleventh studio album, Korn have managed to tap into what created those assumptions in the first place and dutifully deliver on every single one. If one were to listen to Follow The Leader before The Paradigm Shift, you’d scarcely notice a difference, and that’s a good thing” – Music Feeds”
PLACEBO

English alternative rock legends PLACEBO return for just 2 INTIMATE SideWave shows!

MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY, SYDNEY, ENMORE THEATRE – Licensed All Ages
THURSDAY 27 FEBRUARY, MELBOURNE, PALAIS THEATRE – All Ages

Having recently released their seventh studio album and with a career spanning 17 years, PLACEBO will be playing just 2 very special side shows in Sydney and Melbourne.
When Brian Molko – singer songwriter with bleak-hearted rock three piece, Placebo – began writing his band’s seventh studio album (LOUD LIKE LOVE) released in September last year, his intention was to sketch out enough tracks to make the B3 EP. What followed was a splurge of creativity and grand ambition that resulted in LOUD LIKE LOVE, a release that marks Placebo as a band big on heart-scarred intimacy as well as anthemic pop hooks.
“From the moment you press play, it is obvious that this is Placebo. It’s all here.” – drownedinsound
BLACK VEIL BRIDES

TUESDAY 25 FEBRUARY SYDNEY, THE BALD FACED STAG – Licensed All Ages
WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY MELBOURNE, ARROW ON SWANSTON – All Ages

GET READY FOR A NIGHT OF FLAMBOYANT GLAM METAL ROCK WITH BLISTERING GUITAR SOLOS, MUSCULAR RIFFS AND DEEPLY KOHLED EYES AS BLACK VEIL BRIDES TAKE TO THE STAGE IN SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE
Black Veil Brides kicked off 2013 confidently with the release of their third full-length album, Wretched and Divine. This massive opus sees the Los Angeles quintet deliver a collection of songs that’s as immersive as it is infectious. Hallmarks of their sound like gritty riffs, orchestral flourishes, elegant soloing, and anthemic vocals remain intact. At the same time, everything expands gracefully into the fabric of an intricate post-apocalyptic drama about The Wild Ones penned by Biersack and artistic collaborator Richard Villa III. Ultimately, Wretched and Divine opens the gateway to a new world altogether.
“Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones’ is an ambitious effort that shows the band is willing to take chances in their fast-rising career.” – Loudwire
JIMMY EAT WORLD + PANIC! AT THE DISCO + ALKALINE TRIO

MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY SYDNEY, THE HI-FI – Licensed All Ages
TUESDAY 25 FEBRUARY MELBOURNE, THE FORUM – 18+

Emerging out of the mid-’90s scene, JIMMY EAT WORLD crossed over to a larger audience by embracing a blend of alternative rock and pop that targeted the heart as well as the head. The band’s influence widened considerably with 1999’s Clarity – an album that has since emerged as a landmark of the time but it was the band’s follow-up that crowned them as major figures. The band has released seven studio albums with the last six featuring the current line-up. The four piece’s breakthrough came with the successful release of the album Bleed American (2001). The band followed up with Futures in 2004 but it was the bands sixth album, Chase This Light in 2007 that became the monster record. The bands most recent album, Damage was released in April last year.

“The simple pleasures on Damage – the bells solo in “Book of Love,” the decidedly unmacho crunch of “I Will Steal You Back” – stir up plenty of warm feeling. But after all this time, you still won’t mistake it for afterglow.” – Rolling Stone

Las Vegas’s PANIC! AT THE DISCO have been labeled emo, pop punk, electo, vaudeville and baroque pop since the band’s debut album in 2005. Fast forward 7 years and Panic! At The Disco’s coming of age in Las Vegas looms large on the band’s fourth album Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! From its glittery synth-based, drum-heavy sound, to its playful, celebratory subject matter, to the Rat Pack-inspired imagery on the cover, to the title itself (a line from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author Hunter S. Thompson), the album finds the band, for the first time in its nearly 10-year career, owning up to loving their hometown.
ALKALINE TRIO formed looking for neither fame nor fortune, but instead working toward a potential future where their music would be meaningful to likeminded and/or disenfranchised people. More than 15 years into their career, the dark punk trio has cemented their legacy with their ninth studio album. Feverishly determined to never make the same record twice, Alkaline Trio nevertheless have preserved the most electric elements of their collaborative song-writing abilities, as their most diehard listeners have come to expect, while ever broadening their palette with new colours and extremes. The raw energy of ‘70s proto-punk, the darkly romantic sensibility and tongue-in-cheek wordplay of ‘80s new-wave, the upbeat melodicism of the underground power-pop movement of the ‘90s and the eclectic individualism of the new millennium all have a home in the Alkaline Trio sound.
AFI + ††† (Crosses)

TUESDAY 25 FEBRUARY SYDNEY, THE FACTORY – Licensed All Ages
WEDNESDAY 26 FEBRUARY MELBOURNE, PRINCE OF WALES – 18+

Multiplatinum alt-rock band AFI return to Australian stages for the first time in 4 years! The band released their 9th studio album (“Burials”) in October last year to rave reviews around the world from fans and media alike.

With their epic sound, a storm of synthetic orchestrations and volcanic percussion, AFI have amassed a fiercely loyal international following whose numbers in the millions. About the album, Havok says, “This record is of silence, of burials, and the burials that result from that silence. It’s of betrayal, cruelty, weakness, anxiety, panic – deep and slow – despair, injury and loss. And in this it is shamefully honest and resolutely unforgiving.”

Known as one of the hardest working bands since their inception, MAYDAY PARADE have honed their patented style of catchy, kinetic pop punk with an outpour of real rock energy.
