Maldivian melodic heavy metal band NOTHNEGAL and Bloody-Disgusting.com have just unleashed a brand new, exclusive track cut from the band’s upcoming self-titled EP, entitled ‘Rannamaari’. The track delves into the folklore theme of the EP, more specifically, sea demon folklore. Check out the track at this location.

“This track is about a mythical sea serpent which seeks a virgin as a sacrifice every full moon. The people of the islands are led to believe this but the truth is that the king is the one seeking these virgins while making the people believe otherwise. Rannamaari is the name of this serpent,” explains guitarist Hilarl.

NOTHNEGAL and their international label Season of Mist will release band’s upcoming experimental self-titled EP in North America on August 6, 2013. The EP is out today in all other territories. You can pre-order in North America here, and order internationally here.

The EP was recorded at Vakaruge Studios in the Maldives with producer Shamheed, with additional production being handled by Matt Hyde (Slipknot, Bullet for My Valentine, As I Lay Dying) and Paul Reeve (MUSE). The NOTHNEGAL EP will consist of four tracks and will be released exclusively through digital retailers in North America and other parts of the world.

NOTHNEGAL is:

  • Affan (Vocals)
  • Hamad (Bass)
  • Hilarl (Guitar)
  • Chippe (Guitar)
  • Marco Sneck (Keyboards)
  • Kevin Talley (Drums)
