CHRIS WYSE OF THE CULT AND OWL HITS THE ROAD ON THE ELECTRIC 13 TOUR
LOS ANGELES – JULY 22, 2013 – Chris Wyse, bass player of seminal outfit The Cult and frontman of rock band Owl, will hit the road on The Cult’s Electric 13 tour kicking off on July 25th in San Diego. Leading up to the tour, Wyse, who joined The Cult in 2006 and played bass on the band’s comeback album Beyond Good and Evil in 2001, recently released Owl’s sophomore album The Right Thing on April 9th.
On the Electric 13 trek, The Cult will play their 1987 Rick Rubin-produced landmark album Electric in its entirety for the first time ever. Each tour stop will feature a first set of the platinum-selling Electric boasting standouts like ‘Love Removal Machine,’ ‘Wild Flower’ and ‘Lil’ Devil’ and a second set highlighting The Cult’s 30-year catalogue of hits. The Cult is set to release new material in 2014 to follow-up to their 2012 album Weapon of Choice, and a double album called Electric Peace is due out July 30th.
“I am very excited about the Electric 13 tour,” shares Wyse. “Playing the record from top to bottom makes for an amazing set. This is sure to be one of the best Cult tours yet.”
With Owl, singer/bassist Wyse along with drummer Dan Dinsmore and guitarist Jason Achilles Mezilis approach timeless rock structures through a healthy amount of experimentation and instrumental intricacy. Owl takes flight with unforgettable hooks and impressive delivery on The Right Thing, offering a combination that instantly impacts and takes up residence inside your head, as all great hard rock should. Rolling Stone premiered Owl’s video for the album’s title track: http://rol.st/13KAiyD and Revolver Magazine revealed the band’s cover of The Kinks classic “Detroyer”: http://bit.ly/12g35zH.
“Owl was an unstoppable force in the studio. The Right Thing is heavy and bombastic, and is our unorthodox ode to rock,” says Wyse, “It was a fun collaboration having The Cult’s Johnny Tempesta guest on a track drumming alongside Dan.’”
“It is a great honor to be in such an iconic band as The Cult. I feel at home here. And I love that Owl offers me the outlet to showcase my upright bass playing and vocals,” offers Wyse. “I have incredible chemistry with both bands, and wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
