ASTRALWERKS TO RELEASE SHOWTEK REMIX FOR “CITY OF DREAMS” BY DIRTY SOUTH & ALESSO FT. RUBEN HAZE ON JUNE 25TH
(New York, NY – June 24th, 2013) – Following the release of Dirty South’s stunning debut album Speed of Life earlier this year and the recent Beatport topping success of Alesso’s remix of OneRepublic’s “If I Lose Myself”, the pair have announced that they will be releasing two new remixes on Astralwerks of their hit 2012 single “City Of Dreams” featuring Ruben Haze from Showtek and Jacques Lu Cont, alongside a brand new video. The Showtek remix premiered on the Radio 1 Dance Anthems show last Saturday and is set for release on June 25th before the Jacques Lu Cont remix, which received its first play from Danny Howard on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show, will be released as part of a bundle that is set for release on July 9th. The new video for the track will be premiering on July 2nd.
The popular single demonstrates the breadth and caliber of Dragan Roganović (Dirty South) and Alessandro Lindblad’s (Alesso) talents, not just as producers and DJs but also as songwriters and musicians, with Dirty South himself being one half of the Ruben Haze project, a band duo with Rudy whose vocals are featured on “City Of Dreams.” The song, originally composed by Ruben Haze, showcases a softer melodic side of the duo, normally famous for their big-room house sound. Dirty South teamed up with hugely talented Swedish DJ & producer Alesso on the rework of the indie track, which is no less than an emotional magnum opus, featuring beautiful builds and aching hooks.
“Collaborating with Rudy under the alias ‘Ruben Haze’ to write, produce and record the original ‘City of Dreams’ was a very invigorating special side project,” said Dirty South. “The take on the track that Alesso and I did made it an even more exceptional single to me. And it’s exciting to now see Showtek’s and Jacques Lu Cont’s takes on it.”
On Showtek’s remix, which will be made available individually on June 25th, the brotherly Dutch duo bring a harder edge to the production as the sublime melodies melt away into a full throttle electro drop. The bundle, available on July 9th, will consist of three versions of the track: the original version, the radio edit and the exceptional rework from the multi-faceted Stuart Price, AKA Jacques Lu Cont. Lu Cont’s take on the track stays true to the emotive sentiment of the original as it unfurls beautifully over a driving beat. A video for the song’s original version will premiere on VEVO on July 2nd, giving viewers a colorful behind-the-scenes peek of the song’s creation.
Dragan Roganović, known as Dirty South, is a Serbian-born, Australian-based DJ, producer and songwriter whose acclaimed work has received such honors as two GRAMMY nominations, two ARIA nominations (Australian Music Industry’s top accolade) and a “Best Producer” trophy from the inthemix top 50 awards, among others. He has made a name for himself as a producer, musician and DJ, having produced, collaborated or remixed for the likes of Snoop Dogg, Pussycat Dolls, Kaskade, U2, Diddy Dirty Money, The Temper Trap, David Guetta, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and more than 50 artists in total. Recent production credits include three tracks on British recording artist Example’s latest album The Evolution of Man and one track on his previous album Playing in the Shadows. Dirty South has quickly risen to become one of the most prolific and respected artists in dance music, and the release of his debut studio album earlier this year made an indelible mark on electronic music.
Still in the early years of his career, Alesso has quickly proven himself to be a matchless talent and one of dance music’s most exciting prospects in 2013. He has steadily amassed a string of anthemic club and chart hits that already boasts the likes of “Calling”, “Raise Your Head”, “Years” and “Clash” alongside remixes for Swedish House Mafia, Keane and David Guetta amongst others, with Radio 1 tastemaker Zane Lowe naming “Calling (Losing My Mind)” his “Hottest Record of the Year” in 2012. His most recent remix of OneRepublic’s “If I Lose Myself” hit the No.1 spot on Beatport, further affirming his formidable talents. Add to this a peerless DJ reputation for wowing crowds across the world, and the summer ahead looks like it is going to be an extremely exciting one for Alesso with huge international shows including EDC London, Tomorrowland, Ushuaia, Creamfields and Electric Zoo NYC.
