White House Highlights Marcie Allen Van Mol As A Hurricane Sandy “Champion Of Change” For Relief Efforts On Beach 119th Street In The Rockaways

WASHINGTON, DC – April 24, 2013 – The White House today honored Marcie Allen Van Mol as one of seventeen people who are Hurricane Sandy “Champions of Change.” This Champions event highlighted people and organizations directly involved in response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy.  These hidden heroes implemented innovative, collaborative solutions to meet the unique needs of communities and neighborhoods as they worked to rebuild after the devastating effects of this disaster.

Marcie Allen Van Mol is the president of MAC Presents, a New York City-based sponsorship and fulfillment agency. After Hurricane Sandy, Marcie rallied a group of “Beach 119th Street Angels” to raise over $100,000 in gift cards and supplies for families on Beach 119th Street in Rockaway Beach, New York. Van Mol directed the short documentary film Beach 119 about the families of one block in Rockaway and their recovery. To watch the official Beach 119 trailer, click HERE. “I was so inspired to hear stories from other individuals who helped their communities after Superstorm Sandy,” said Van Mol. “I am honored to be included as a Champion of Change for the work the Angels did on Beach 119th Street in the Rockaways.”
