About The Bands:

Alice In Chains: Alice In Chains are gearing up for the May 28 release of their highly anticipated album, THE DEVIL PUT DINOSAURS HERE. Last week they released “Stone,” the companion video to their new single. The clip, which can be seen athttp://www.vevo.com/watch/alice-in-chains/stone/USVI31300003, was shot in Lucerne Valley, CA, with director Roboshobo (Metallica, Mastodon, Green Day) and follows the recently released “Stone” lyric video. “Stone,” which is about to crack the top 10 at rock radio, arrives on the heels of lead single “Hollow,” which shot to No. 1 on the rock charts. The band (vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell, vocalist/guitarist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez) will be playing the new singles, additional songs from the album, and a setlist of classic hits during the upcoming Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival. THE DEVIL PUT DINOSAURS HERE follows 2009’s hugely successful release BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE. That album entered Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 5, sold over one million copies, spawned two No. 1 hit singles (“Check My Brain” and “Your Decision”) and a third (“Lesson Learned”) that went top 10, earned two Grammy nominations and saw the band headlining a sold-out international tour.

Jane’s Addiction: Imagine, for a moment, a world in which Jane’s Addiction never existed. Nothing’s Shocking was never released in the summer of ’88. Lollapalooza never launched three summers later. Perry Bernstein remained on the East Coast, never boarding that Greyhound Bus and heading across country to Los Angeles like so many dreamers and visionaries before him did. What kind of world would that be? August 2013 marks 25 years since the release of Nothing’s Shocking — an album like no other then, and like few others now, as influential as it is. Many critics were puzzled in ’88 upon first hearing those 11 songs. “A classic love ’em or hate ’em outfit,” Rolling Stone observed. “The band is great. And it is also full of shit. Often at the same time.” It also contains modern rock’s “Free Bird” — the sad, sweet, and eternal “Jane Says,” a steel-drum-driven pop gem that everyone can sing along to. The riff and the chorus are in our DNA a quarter-century on. Jane’s Addiction is still a frighteningly powerful live band and an ever-exploring recording act. Original members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, and Stephen Perkins reunited in 1997, then again in 2001, and released a third studio album (fourth if you count the live 1987 self-titled release, known to most fans as Triple X, for the indie label that released it) Strays, which features current Jane’s bassist, Chris Chaney, and was produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s The Wall). In 2011, The Great Escape Artist was released to critical acclaim. “It sounds like a band re-vitalized,” Spinraved, while Billboard called the album “a dynamic collection that features some of the band’s best work.” So again, take a moment and imagine a world in which Jane’s Addiction never existed. It’d be a less exciting place to live, wouldn’t it? Here is a band that helped keep rock and roll unpredictable, inspiring, dangerous, and constantly moving forward. As it should be.

Coheed and Cambria: Over the past 10 years, Claudio Sanchez and his group, Coheed and Cambria have distinguished themselves as among the most gifted storytellers in rock.  Sanchez’s ‘The Amory Wars’ narrative—spun out across their five previous studio albums which together have sold over 2 million copies in the United States alone—is a good vs. evil science-fiction epic that’s become to Coheed and Cambria fans something like what The Wall and Quadrophenia were to previous generations. And the tale might soon reach an even wider audience, as Mark Wahlberg recently announced that he and Stephen Levinson of Leverage Productions will turn Sanchez’s The Amory Wars into a big-screen live-action feature film. And, after nearly a year in the studio, Coheed and Cambria seized on this momentum, releasing an entire 18-song double album in two masterful strokes. The first volume, The Afterman: Ascension was released this past October and charted #5 on the Billboard Top 200, while the 2nd volume, entitled The Afterman: Descension just landed at #9 on the chart this past February to rave reviews among fans and critics alike.

Circa Survive: Circa Survive, the five-piece progressive rock band from Doylestown, Pennsylvania self-produced their fourth album Violent Waves at Studio 4 in suburban Philadelphia. For the release, the band developed a new method of self-releasing their records, having previously recorded for Equal Vision and Atlantic Records. Circa Survive has always prided themselves on the extraordinary relationship they have with their fans–this new release model allows them to push the self-release paradigm one step further. After debuting at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 (with no label and no traditional distribution outlet), the statement is pretty clear–Circa Survive are showing no signs of slowing down, and with their rabid core fanbase willing to follow them into the unknown…anything is possible.

Walking Papers: Seattle has always been a place for musical invention and musicians who push the high-water mark just a bit higher.  From Jimi Hendrix and The Sonics to Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Fleet Foxes and Death Cab For Cutie, the Northwest has yielded a variety of envelope-pushers and the area has remained a positive artistic caldron. Walking Papers (Jeff Angell, Barrett Martin, Duff McKagan, Ben Anderson) are the latest group to follow the path of Northwest’s tradition. Jeff Angell has long been Seattle’s hidden and well-kept secret. Angell is perhaps one of America’s best songwriters at this very moment, and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season) saw an opportunity to collaborate with Jeff Angell in the studio in the spring of 2012; it became a science project of sorts. The songs that emanated from those initial sessions were grandiose and brazen and honest. The guys called some friends to join in on the experiment. Duff McKagan (Guns ‘N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver) was itching to play bass again, and he brought his visceral playing to the sessions. Keyboardist Ben Anderson (Rorschach Test, Missionary Position) showcased his musicality on these songs too. And finally, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready added his leads to this record, adding the final touches. Last summer, both Duff and Ben joined Walking Papers for some initial shows and McCready took time away from his busy Pearl Jam schedule to play some of those first gigs too. Gigs were selling out in Seattle, and Walking Papers became the talk of the town. The independent release of these initial sessions has brought much critical acclaim, and a rabid audience both in America, and in the UK and Europe.  The British Press came first. Classic Rock Magazine voted Walking Papers one of the Top 20 bands of the year. Not ‘Top 20 new bands’, no, Walking Papers were in there with Led Zeppelin, Rush and Black Sabbath. Not bad. And touring is in these gentlemen’s blood. Seattle is indeed a place for great music to take seed, but the world now will get a chance to bear witness to what is Walking Papers.

Danko Jones: Over the course of six albums, Danko Jones has forged a singular brand of rock ‘n’ roll that draws equally from the blues, ’60s garage, ’70s hard rock and power-pop, ’80s hardcore, ‘90s indie rock and Scandinavian metal—not to mention classic stand-up comedy records—without ever being fully defined by any of those sources. But while built from the same rudiments, each Danko Jones record has possessed a distinct sonic identity and attitude. I’m Alive and I’m On Fire was pure blues-punk fury. Born a Lionbrought the boogie and sledgehammer soul. We Sweat Blood was more anxious and aggro. Sleep Is the Enemy wielded the sharpest hooks. Never Too Loud was as slick as Below the Belt was stripped-down. But, compared to all that’s come before, Rock and Roll Is Black and Blue is, hands down, the most emotional and, as a result, the most epic Danko Jones album to date.

Middle Class Rut: When we last saw Middle Class Rut, the band was tearing through a North American tour in support of 2010’s No Name No Color and hit single ‘New Low.’ The song shot to No. 5 at alternative radio, its companion video (http://bit.ly/Ketxkv) racked up more than 4 million YouTube views and Middle Class Rut was, as USA Today declared, “on the verge.” The Sacramento, CA-based duo of vocalist/guitarist Zack Lopez and vocalist/drummer Sean Stockham has shared stages with the likes of Muse, Social Distortion, Them Crooked Vultures, Alice In Chains, 30 Seconds To Mars and Linkin Park and more than held their own, drawing rave reviews from NME, the BBC, Alternative Press and Kerrang!, who proclaimed, “Their sound is nothing short of colossal, and one that a mere two-piece shouldn’t be able to create, combining the boisterous swagger and pomp of Jane’s Addiction and the feral fury of Rage Against the Machine.” Added Alternative Press, “It’s mind-blowing to witness the sheer depth and complexity of the sound these two guys are capable of unleashing on their own.” Their new album, Pick Up Your Head, is introduced via its electrifying lead single, “Aunt Betty.”

New Politics: New Politics, the Brooklyn based (via Copenhagen) 3-piece rock band will release their sophomore album A Bad Girl In Harlem on May 21 through RCA Records. The band’s new single “Harlem” just broke into the Top 20 at Alternative radio. ESPN named New Politics “Artist of the Month” and will be featuring “Harlem” in their programming. Alternative Press included New Politics as one of the “100 Bands You Need To Know In 2013.” New Politics have toured with 30 Seconds to Mars, Neon Trees and Dirty Heads amongst others. In 2011 they made their late night network television debut on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and they have also performed on Fuel TV’s The Daily Habit.  New Politics are looking forward to hitting the road once again, where they will continue to perform the same kind of riveting, high energy sets that had Spin.com declaring that their performance was “…the night’s most lasting take-away” during their performance at SXSW. New Politics are David Boyd (vocals), Soren Hansen (vocals/guitar) and Louis Vecchio (drums).

The Chuck Shaffer Picture Show: The Chuck Shaffer Picture Show…There is no Chuck here…just Ryan Johnson (Vocals/Guitar), David Steifel (Bass) and Shad Teems (Drums). With an edgy Incubus-meets-Chevelle sound, this Richmond, VA trio has not only enjoyed the local spotlight, but has also shared the stage with national touring acts that include Papa Roach, Seether, Sick Puppies, Smile Empty Soul, Egypt Central, Saving Abel, 10 Years, Bush and more. Currently touring to promote their new EP, this 3-piece rock powerhouse has been winning over fans up and down the East Coast with their energetic live show filled with catchy, modern rock. Fresh out of LA’s NRG Recording Studios, produced by Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, P.O.D, Seether, Evanescence), the new EP carries 6 strong tracks with radio potential. Beating out 28 finalists in the 2012 Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands powered by Imagen Records, the band was picked as the grand prize winners and were asked to join the lineup for The 2013 Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival.
