STAGEIT, NAMED AS ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST INNOVATIVE COMPANIES IN MUSIC BY FAST COMPANY, TAKES FIRST PLACE IN STARTUP COMPETITION AT MIDEM

| 22 February 2013 | Reply

Stageit, a web-based platform that enables artists to easily create paid live shows directly from their laptops, was named as one of the world’s Top 10 most innovative companies in music by Fast Company. The Los Angeles-based company also appeared on Billboard.biz Bulletin’s list of 10 most interesting startups of 2012 and received the midemlab award in direct to consumer sales & content monetization at midem 2013, held in Cannes, France earlier this month.

Yesterday on Stageit, YouTube sensations Walk off the Earth performed live from their living room and fielded questions from viewers, who were able to purchase tickets on a “Pay What You Can” basis. It was a milestone show for independent artists as it demonstrates that real money can be made for nearly zero cost, 30 minutes of an artist’s time and a computer.

Los Angeles-based indie artist Jason Manns, whose music has been heard in such shows as “Supernatural,” “Parks & Rec” and “Happy Endings,” returns with another Stageit performance on Thursday, February 28. He will be joined by special guest Misha Collins, star of The CW’s “Supernatural,” who will field questions from viewers after Manns’ set. Eighty percent of the proceeds from the show will go to aid Misha’s ongoing humanitarian work with Help 2 Haiti and Random Acts in Haiti. Manns is offering numerous rewards for “top tippers,” including an opportunity for one lucky viewer to accompany Misha, Random Acts and the H2H3 team to Haiti, to continue their mission to feed and educate homeless and orphaned children.

Stageit empowers artists to deliver and monetize unique online live concert-like performances anytime, anywhere while providing real-time social engagement with their fans. The online performances streamed on Stageit are not archived, so they remain truly unique experiences for the virtual attendees. Launched in 2011 by CEO and music industry veteran Evan Lowenstein, Stageit has hosted a wide range of performers including Jason Mraz, Jimmy Buffett, Trey Songz, Bonnie Raitt, KORN, Sara Bareilles, Plain White T’s and many more.

The company recently announced a new program called The More You Make, The More You Take.™ It’s a sliding scale that increases the share of the gross revenues artists can earn for their Stageit shows based on their earnings, beginning at 63% and ranging up to 83%. This replaces the previous 60% that Stageit paid to artists.

“We have staked our claim on being a company that protects artists every step of the way,” said Evan Lowenstein, Founder and CEO of Stageit. “This new change will help us continue to show artists that we are on their side.”
