“BUFF” & “THE FRENCH CONNECTION” -Wednesday 13 February @ Movies By Burswood Curtin

Buff and French Connection

BUFF is a light-hearted and bright and breezy doco that was filmed and produced in Perth and is a quirky, passionate and affectionate look at the magic of cinema and is an illuminating profile of Australian film buffs, film critics and enthusiasts.

It features revealing interviews with film buffs David Stratton, Margaret Pomeranz, Peter Rowsthorn, Mark Naglazas and many more familiar faces.

BUFF not only explores the world of film fandom but, thanks to carefully selected subjects and comic theatrical recreations of classic film scenes, is informative, poignant and entertaining .

The documentary had its world premiere screening as closing night film at The 2012 Revelation Perth Film Festival and was made by the Perth film buffs behind Access 31’s movie review show Flicktease – Gavin Bond and Ian Abercromby.

This documentary not only examines the phenomena of film fandom but is also a personal profile of the various subjects and the reasons for their attraction and devotion to film.

BUFF (PG, 62 mins) is followed by a rare screening of classic 1971 Oscar winning thriller The French Connection.  (M, 106 mins)

Winner of best picture, best director, best actor (Gene Hackman), best editing & best adapted screenplay.
