7th World Ft. Robert Thomas Jr., Felix and Julius Pastorius Performance Debut and Live Webcast

7th World is the brainchild of Robert Thomas Jr., two-time Grammy winning hand drummer and former member of the legendary visionary groups Weather Report, The Zawinul Syndicate and Jaco Pastorius’ Word of Mouth Band. Robert is joined by his godsons Felix and Julius Pastorius- the twin prodigy of Jaco and Ingrid Pastorius-on bass and drums respectively. Rounding out the band is Grammy Award-winning keyboardist Leroy Romans and guitarist Patxi Pastor.

Together, 7th World’s music, self-labeled “Global Acid Funk,” infuses elements of electronic, jazz, funk and world music for a stellar live experience.

7th World makes its world debut this Saturday night, December 8th at 10 PM EST with a live performance and webcast from The Moksha Family Arts Collective, located in Miami at 228 N.E 59th Street. For Tickets and info call 305.757.7277.

About Robert Thomas Jr.: Two time Grammy Award winner Robert Thomas Jr. is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest percussionists in music history. Legendary bassists Jaco Pastorius discovered Robert playing at a local jazz benefit in Miami one night and asked Robert for his card. A month later the phone rang in the middle of the night, it was Jaco calling, asking Robert if he would audition for Weather Report. Robert had never heard of the group before but agreed anyway. Little did he know that Pastorius had bet Joe Zawinul, the leader of Weather Report, a large sum of money that they could fly Robert up to New Haven, Connecticut and audition him live on stage in front of 13,000 people and that Zawinul would be so impressed that he would hire Robert on the spot. Well, it happened. Robert got the job and Pastorius won the bet! Robert went on to be the only musician to play in all of Joe Zawinul’s bands – Weather Report, Weather Update and The Zawinul Syndicate. Robert went on to became a core member of Jaco Pastorius’ Word of Mouth Band, and his talents were also tapped by such greats as Ahmad Jamal, Stan Getz, Santana, Zoot Simms, Herbie Mann and Monty Alexander, to name just a few. Robert has released two albums as a bandleader. He is also known as one of the world’s master players of the PanArt Hang Drum. Robert is Godfather to both Felix and Julius Pastorius and has made music with them since they were children.

About Felix and Julius Pastorius: Felix and Julius are both South Florida natives, living in Deerfield Beach. They are twin brothers born to Jaco and Ingrid Pastorius. Felix and Julius started playing at an early age, and after the death of their father they were mentored by their Godfather Robert Thomas Jr. Felix and Julius have spent years honing their natural found abilities. Felix played early on with Victor Wooten and Jeff Coffin and The Mutet. Last year, Felix was asked to join the legendary Yellow Jackets to fill in for co-leader and bassist Jimmy Haslip, and has since traveled the world with them to great critical acclaim. Julius has been touring with guitar legend Mike Stern in a trio with another Weather Report and Zawinul Syndicate alumni, bassist Victor Bailey.

About Patxi Pastor: Patxi is a musician whose intensity on stage and unique approach towards performing music has been a favorite with audiences for over three decades. He began playing professionally at the age of 16, in clubs and festivals throughout New England, and has continued to play with some of the world’s leading musicians in various bands and projects across the country. Patxi recently performed a number of times with the Belushi Estates’ legendary “Blues Brothers,” who also continue to be a favorite addition to his own Miami-based Patxi Pastor All Star Band.
