Doug Stanhope CD/DVD Out Today!

NEW YORK, NY – Doug Stanhope releases the live companion CD/DVD Before Turning The Gun On Himself  today, November 6, 2012.  Recorded in Salt Lake City, UT at The Complex, Stanhope released the digital CD on March 6, 2012 and it immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard, iTunes and Amazon comedy charts.  You can watch a trailer for the DVD here.

Stanhope had a break out year in 2011 and has garnered praise from everyone from Ricky Gervais who says that Doug “might be the most important stand up working today” to Sarah Silverman to Louis C.K.  Stanhope was featured in Louis C.K.’s FX show Louie in season 2, episode 9 entitled “Eddie” where he earned rave reviews for a character Louie wrote with Doug in mind.  Read the New York Magazine review here.

Stanhope has built a wide-ranging television resume of dubious achievement. He hosted The Man Show on Comedy Central as well as the ubiquitous pseudo-porn for the sexually crippled, “Girls Gone Wild”, both solely and shamelessly for financial gain. He has appeared on The Howard Stern Show, Comedy Central Presents, Showtime’s “The Green Room With Paul Provenza,” The Man Show, Fox’s “Stossel,”  Premium Blend, produced and starred in Fox’s Invasion of the Hidden Cameras and has even popped up on “Fox News with Greta Van Sustern” and “The Jerry Springer Show.”   In 2010, he was the Voice of America on the BBC’s  Charlie Brooker’s Newswipe. Stanhope was also featured in controversial film The Aristocrats alongside George Carlin, Don Rickles and Chris Rock to name a few.

Stanhope continues his North American comedy tour throughout the United States through the end of the year. Before Turning The Gun On Himself is the follow up to the widely heralded #1 release Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere.
