November 1st, 2012 — New York, NY — Iconic soul/R&B vocalist Aaron Neville launches a pre-order for his upcoming new album My True Story, his debut for EMI’s Blue Note Records that will be released on January 22nd, 2013. As of today, the album is available for pre-order at Amazon.com and BN.com.

My True Story finds Neville revitalizing some of his favorite songs from the doo-wop era and beyond, including “Tears on My Pillow” and “Under the Boardwalk,” and performing them in his inimitable vocal style. The album, which was produced by Keith Richards and Blue Note Records President Don Was, finds Neville backed by a top-flight rock & roll band, led by the distinctive, propulsive guitar work of Richards himself. The other musicians include Greg Leisz on guitar (Beck, Sheryl Crow), Benmont Tench on organ (founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), George G. Receli on drums (Bob Dylan), and Tony Scherr on bass (Bill Frisell, Norah Jones).

In other news, Aaron will appear with The Neville Brothers on the November 4th episode of HBO’s acclaimed series Treme, which is set in Neville’s hometown of New Orleans. The episode, directed by Tim Robbins, takes place as preparations are being made for Mardi Gras in 2008 with The Neville Brothers performing at the Washington DC Mardi Gras Ball. Aaron has a cameo in addition to singing the lead on “Louisana 1927.”

Last week, Neville performed at the annual Gala for The Doe Fund, a New York nonprofit organization that helps formerly homeless men and women achieve independence and self-sufficiency. The Gala was dedicated to the formal expansion of Operation Opportunity, a social services and transitional employment program catering to the needs of returning veterans. Neville, who performed in support of the cause, reflected about his own connection to The Doe Fund and the “men in blue.” “In my life, I have faced starting over many times,” he says. “As a youth, I wrestled with drug addiction and was incarcerated, and I know how tough it can be to get a second chance and make it work out. I support The Doe Fund because of their tremendous work in breaking the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and criminal patterns and helping individuals become self-sufficient and productive.”

Lastly, Neville will kick off his yearly Christmas Celebration tour on December 1st, during which he will perform holiday songs, fan-favorite hits, and new songs from My True Story. All tour dates are listed below. Neville was on the road over the summer and earned rave reviews, with the Orlando Sentinel reporting that “Neville made everything look easy. From the gospel of ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ to the nostalgic ‘Tell It Like Is,’ that voice is nothing but soul.”
