RCRD LBL Premieres New HOPEWELL Song “The King & the Canary”
Celebrated New York rock band HOPEWELL have just released an EP of new material titled Another Music. The first single released from the new effort was a cover of Brian Eno‘s “Needle In The Camel’s Eye” featuring Mark Gardener of eternally cool, seminal shoegaze band RIDE on lead vocals. Now, HOPEWELL releases a second track from Another Music — the infectious new song “The King & the Canary” — which makes its premiere via RCRD LBL, who calls the song “a swoopy mid-tempo number that marries prancing instrumentation with a fuzzed-out melody and singer Jason Russo’s high-pitched croon.” Stream or download HOPEWELL‘s “The King & the Canary” today at this location!
This weekend, HOPEWELL will headline the third annual O+ FESTIVAL in Kingston, NY. A three day, barter-based arts festival “Exchanging the Art of Medicine for the Medicine of Art”, the O+ FESTIVAL will feature over 40 musical acts, visual art, wellness events and much more. Check out the O+ FESTIVAL music schedule at this location. HOPEWELL will take the stage on Saturday evening at 10:30 PM.
Self-titled magazine recently premiered “Needle in the Camel’s Eye“, calling the track “a faithful, frenetic cover.” Check out HOPEWELL featuring RIDE‘s Mark Gardener and the artists’ take on the Brian Eno classic now at this location! A music video for “Needle In The Camel’s Eye” directed by Art Boonparn (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Cold Cave) is in the works and will premiere soon. “The funny thing about Hopewell is that they have been sorely overlooked by those who like the psychedelic, dreamy pop being made by bands like Animal Collective, Dungen or to a lesser degree, Dirty Projectors, mainly because they brewed their cred in upstate New York versus Manhattan or Brooklyn…purveyors of the new psych-rock scene”– THE FADER
“When Hopewell add some hangover-hazy honky-tonk grit to their spacey sprawl (The Notbirds, closer Square Peg Teeth), the results are uniquely out of this world.”– ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
“shoegaze-y and guitar-heavy indie-rock veterans” – THE NEW YORKER
“stargazing psychedelic splendor” – PITCHFORK
“new-psych shamans” – RCRD LBL
“a pure sun-soaked pop sound that recalls the best work of The Flaming Lips and The Polyphonic Spree…an organic blend of psychedelic, stoner, space, folk, and shoegaze rock.” – DECOY MUSIC
