Almost A Dirty Dozen with TOMMY LONDON & BRITT LIGHTNING from THE JETSETTERS – October 2026
According to a recent press release: “The Jetsetters, the new rock band founded by SiriusXM personality Tommy London and Vixen guitarist Britt Lightning has announced a new partnership with The Label Group, another step forward for the band as they continue to build momentum following the release of their debut single and music video, “Above The Noise.” The Jetsetters were formed with a simple mission: create loud, hook-driven rock music with attitude, energy and a modern edge. And their name says it all. Musicians coming together with different histories and roads traveled, with one shared destination: to rock stages worldwide. With The Label Group now part of the team, The Jetsetters are preparing for the next phase of the band, including more new music, videos and live performances. The Jetsetters are ready for takeoff. Buckle up.” We get Tommy & Britt to discuss new music, influences, and more…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets you put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
Tommy: In the song there is a lot of great guitar ear candy that I think needs a second listen to grab onto. There aren’t really any hidden nuggets in the song itself but there are some in our music video for “Above The Noise.” It’s filled with pop culture references on the TV screens and with the host of TV land, portrayed by me giving a nod to Max Headroom.
Britt: With this song we tried to blend a pop-inspired hooky chorus with a rockin riff. There’s a lot guitar parts layered in, so certain lines may pop out to listeners after a few times of listening.
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?
Tommy: Early on I was exposed to Rock n Roll by my father who played 50’s / 60’s music all day and night in the house. Stones, Beatles, Dion, Elvis…you name it. I remember feeling something from this music. Like I wanted something more from it but I didn’t know what it was really until I got older and discovered Van Halen. That’s the band that changed my course.
Britt: I started playing the flute early on, and always loved music. But it wasn’t until I heard “Eruption” and saw Van Halen’s Live Without A Net that I really wanted to be in a rock band.
3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?
Tommy: After discovering Van Halen, the door opened into a whole new world for me. I went to every concert that came to town and bought every album I could and just soaked it all in. Thank God for the Columbia Music Club! Remember them? I scored my whole collection for a dollar! LOL KISS, Aeromsith, STP, Foo Fighters….the list goes on.
Britt: Van Halen got me into all the 80’s rock, from there I got into Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, Dokken, Vixen, etc!
4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?
Tommy: I would personally love to work with Desmond Child. He has been behind so many classics from Bon Jovi to Kiss to Joan Jett and more. Anthems that we all still sing along to to this very day. He writes songs that are meant to be sung in an arena.
Britt: Eddie Van Halen! Because he’s the GOAT!!
5. What is your favorite activity when out of the studio and/or not on tour? What do you like to do to unwind?
Tommy: I love going to the movies. I find it relaxing and inspiring at the same time. You are forced to turn the phone off and just shut yourself off from the real world. And movies have inspired me to write a certain melody, lyric or even a whole song. Oh and the popcorn and raisinettes combo is also part of the experience. LOL
Britt: I love to go to the ocean, that’s my happy place, also hiking or doing anything in nature.
6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?
Tommy: The Jetsetters deliver the kind of songs that make you turn the stereo up to 11, roll the windows down. sing along and just drive. Haven’t had any negative comments regarding the band or the music. I’m sure now the trolls will come out since I just wrote that. LOL
Britt: A lot of people say we sound like Cheap Trick, which we love. Fortunately, I haven’t heard a cringeworthy comment yet, but I am sure I will at some point!
7. When your band is hanging out together, who cooks, who gets the drinks in, and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
Tommy: Britt breaks out the guitar and cooks. Not at the same time but honestly I bet she could do both at the same time if she wanted to. I’m convinced she can do anything. As for me, well I would start the singalong and I’ll be the first one at the table to eat what she cooks. Unless it’s Sloppy Joe night. That’s my speciality. Just saying.
Britt: What Tommy said, and I also am the cocktail queen!
8. When was the last time you were starstruck and who was it?
Tommy: I was starstruck when I met my childhood hero, The Fonz from Happy Days. I used to watch reruns of it all when I was a kid. I actually felt like a kid again when I met him, I was in awe. He’s the sweetest man. He really is. So nice to everyone and personable. Britt actually met him on an airplane, a trip I was supposed to take with her. I now say yes and go on ANY trip she wants to take in case there’s a chance that we could meet The Fonz. lol
Britt: I was backstage at Bon Jovi at the Garden with Tommy and went to find a bathroom. On my way back I literally almost ran into Paul McCartney. All I could say was, “Hi!” He said, “well hello!” and kept walking. I found Tommy and said you’ll never guess who I ran into! He said, Jon Bon Jovi? And I said, even better, a Beatle! Now he always comes when I say I am going to the bathroom, haha!
9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?
Tommy: There is no other high for me than writing a song, recording it and then performing it on stage. The icing on the cake is when the audience is singing along to that song you created. As for dream job, if I wasn’t a musician it would be an on air radio personality. Oh wait…I already have the gig! 🙂
Britt: The best part of being a musician is getting to connect with all sorts of people from all over the world and spread joy through music. I also love the travel aspect and all the beautiful places music takes me. I would always be a musician whether I made a living from it or not, but any job that involves travel or that can be done remotely would be good. I need to always be on the move and don’t do well in a stagnant office. I was a flight attendant at one point in my life and I enjoyed that. But really I do work my dream job, in addition to playing music, I am the musical director at the Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp, and I love that work so much. 10. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over,” even if it didn’t change your current situation?
Tommy: There’s nothing that I would change in my life or career because everything led me to this moment right here. I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. I feel it.
Britt: Not really. I think everything happens for a reason, even the things that don’t seem to be helpful or make sense at the time. Even the experiences that didn’t work out for me taught me valuable lessons.
12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
Tommy: I’d say any Rolling Stone album and recording. There’s a magic that they have always captured on the albums and it would be something special to witness that and be part of it.
Britt: Are You Experienced, Jimi Hendrix. I feel as though watching Jimi’s process creating these groundbreaking soundscapes with his guitar would truly be magical. This record made me realize how free you could be with the guitar and that anything is possible.
