What a way to start September off. The Pretty Reckless playing to a sold-out very enthusiastic crowd at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. This was their second time on that famed stage and the first time as the headliner of the night and they made sure to make it perfect. Big riffs and extended jams and lot’s of stories being told throughout kept the audience fully tuned in. Which wasn’t that hard Taylor even had probably some of the loudest singing from the crowd I have seen at any show I have ever covered at Ryman in the past. Within the first 4 songs she was already into the middle of the floor with the audience singing with them and hyping them up for a solid evening ahead. Every member was very energetic and having a blast which is always a pleasure to see when covering a show. Seeing just the sheer enjoyment in what they do get conveyed to the crowd ten fold. I had talked to a few people and wasn’t shocked to hear there was a ton of out of state music goers in for this event. I had never had the opportunity to catch them live prior to this evening, but seeing how their fanbase was I can understand why they drove states away to catch them at this show.
Numerous times Taylor would stop singing and just raise her hands to orchestrate the audience into a thunderous cheer, and when she would bring her arms down they would become silent. This was highly entertaining to see how she and her fanbase were all as one during this entire performance. I was pleased to see people of all ages even a few young ones out for their very first concert, and their parents sure did choose the band and the venue to help get a life of music love instilled into the youth. They played a standard 15-song show ending with “Heaven Knows” and my favorite song of theirs I knew, “Going to Hell.” After this they left stage for a short time, but the audience was ready for one more and the stomping sounds that echo from the seats at the ryman was loud enough you could probably hear us from across the street. After a short while, The Pretty Reckless came back and Taylor had changed outfits and informed the crowd that the encore song was actually being filmed for a music video and she was excited that Ryman Auditorium would be included in the final cut. This was an absolute pleasure of a performance and perfect place for my first time seeing them live.
