The house was beyond packed on Friday night for this show. Everyone came out ready for some heavy riffs and mosh pits. Behemoth has been a powerhouse on the metal scene for decades, and this was the first time I was fortunate to have been able to catch them perform live. I was definitely not disappointed. Nergal and the rest of the band held the room with perfection in their presence and mastery of their musicianship. Numerous times throughout the evening, there were a few crowd surfers and an almost non-stop mosh pit throughout the course of their set. The few people that I had talked to about the show were nothing short of ecstatic that they were able to make it. Some had even driven in from a few states away to not miss the evening.

Playing a 14-song main set that started with “The Shadow Elite” and then songs from their various other releases. I was there for “Ov Fire and the Void” and was extremely happy they ended the full evening off with an encore of “O Father O Satan O Sun!,” which is my personal favorite song of theirs. The way that they held the room throughout the course of their set was nothing short of legendary. I love the absolute community love of the metal scene, especially when it comes to all-ages shows. Seeing youth being brought with their families to enjoy a live concert helps solidify moments and memories for future generations. And there is something that is lost most of the time in this society, with the major online aspect of life, and being disconnected. So, having a solid grounding in one insanely powerful physical performance will stick with the youth for years to come and help generate a constant love of music that they will pass on to their children.
