It hardly feels like it has been that long since Cog shared the stage at Red Hill with local heroes Karnivool, yet that memorable performance took place back in September 2022. In the intervening years, both Flynn Gower and the audience have matured, but as Flynn reminded the crowd during this show, the band is very much still here and continuing to deliver their signature sound with passion and precision.

The setlist reflected Cog’s enduring relevance, opening with classics like Doors and Are You Interested?, a track as poignant today as it was when first released over twenty years ago. Flynn engaged the audience in a discussion about the song’s themes, highlighting its contemporary significance, and it was refreshing to witness a clear consensus among fans resonating with the sentiment.

Throughout the night, the band showcased the most celebrated anthems from their back catalogue, keeping the audience captivated from start to finish. Early highlights included fan favourites What If, Paris Texas, and the tour’s title track Walk the Line. Midway through the set, The Middle was performed, accompanied by more interactive discussion from Flynn, creating an intimate connection with the crowd before segueing into Drawn Together.

The intensity built further with Silence is Violence prompting full audience participation, before The Spine brought the main set to a powerful close. The encore delivered a triumphant conclusion with Run, My Enemy, and Birds of a Feather, leaving fans exhilarated and reminded of why Cog’s music continues to resonate across generations.
