Brutal chaos wrapped in a small package. This is the best way to describe this 4-piece from Austin, TX. Hitting the stage for the second of a two-night sold-out series of shows at The Blue Room in Nashville, TN, they immediately set the crowd and stage on fire. Within seconds of the first riffs being played, the crowd erupted into one giant mosh pit. Mid-second song, bassist Kate Halter launched herself into the crowd, still playing while being surfed through the room. I knew then it was definitely going to be a chaotic and amazing show. Playing a fast but perfectly timed 11-track set with a 4-song encore. They hit every mark from members swapping positions and instruments to taking turns crowd surfing and getting the crowd into various levels of mosh styles, from a few “wall of death” to circle pits. For a smaller room like The Blue Room, having so much energy contained in a small space is perfect. The band was extremely appreciative of everyone in attendance and made several points in the show to stop and comment on how thankful they were to Third Man Records and the Nashville Community for having them out for 2 sold-out nights to end their tour for the year.
I had been a fan for a while, but I never had the opportunity to see them perform live. This performance more than exceeded what I was hoping for with a live performance from them. So much energy and talent on that stage in one 15-song set of controlled chaos was perfect. The entire night went extremely smoothly from the openers’ set to the end of the night shenanigans, where Die Spitz invited them back on stage during their encore performance of “Hair of Dog” and everyone was crowd surfing or playing with various instruments on stage, making it one giant metal party. This act is definitely for anyone who is a fan of high-energy metal or punk shows. I will not miss another show by them if they come through near me. Instant fan.
