P. J. Harrison is an unapologetic Oasis fan, but not so much as to cloud his judgement in this analysis of the Gallagher brothers solo, post Oasis years.
For those less familiar with the Mancunian sibling rivalry poster boys’ band, after an intro in which he lays his personal cards on the table Harrison shares a potted “Oasistory” to make catching up easy, before delving deep into Noel’s High Flying Birds and Liam’s Beady Eye and solo periods.
Rest assured that he always has one keen eye trained on their personal trials and tribulations at all times, discussing their sometimes chaotic personal lives, success, failures and especially how the brother’s rivalry was affected by their troubled upbringing and how it effected their musical and collaborative choices – thankfully without resorting to sensationalism or muck raking.
With a veritable tsunami of books cashing in on the reboot of Oasis, this is as well researched, informative and quality place to start as any, and may be the only book you need… at least until the tour succeeds or fails and there are more stories to tell.
Some other stuff you might dig
