This was the first time I had been to the Cannery Hall Mainstage since it had been renovated. So I wanted to see what had changed since the last time I was there in 2018. The room was exceptionally better than anticipated. And with a sold-out audience full of energy to see Franz Ferdinand, it made the evening even more electric. The opener, Master Peace, did an amazing job getting the audience hyped for the main event, with even having the full crowd in full dance mode within a few songs during his set.

When Franz Ferdinand hit the stage, the crowd erupted in applause. Full of energy and boisterous moments. They did not disappoint one bit. This show was a little bit different from the other shows on this leg of their tour in that they changed up their setlist slightly, and everyone wasn’t ready for the amazing time getting ready to happen. They hit the stage and immediately went into “Michael”, “Bar Lonely,” and “Do You Want To”. Playing a pretty intense 17-song main setlist, which included having Master Peace jump back on stage to help perform “Hooked”, the band left the stage for a short time and then came back for a 5-song encore of “Dark of the Matinee”, “40’ “, “Night or Day”, “Evil and a Heathen”, and closing out with an extended version of “This Fire”. After everything was said and done, the band came to the front of the stage and took a bow to massive applause. This was the second-to-last show on this North American leg of the tour, so they were extra energetic to put on a serious live performance. Everyone needs to try and go out of their way to catch one of their live shows. It has a bit of everything for everyone. Highly recommend.
