Wednesday night’s performance was rather fun. Playing to an intimate but very enthused audience, L.A. Indie band GOON got onto the stage and played a rather enjoyable set. I wasn’t that familiar with them prior to the evening. Their sound is very ethereally melodic vocals with some heavy breakdowns from time to time. Their sound reminded me of bits from Elliott Smith, Dandy Warhols, and early Smashing Pumpkins. They were very appreciative of the audience and venue. The set was a nice mid-week gig. GOON is definitely a band to keep an eye out for in the near future. They have a sound that’s rather unique and will go far. The East Room is a smaller venue in town that, until this past July, I didn’t even know about, but every single performance that I have covered there has been amazing. Highly recommend GOON to anyone who has a free evening and is looking for something new to see. You will not be disappointed.
