THE LINE-UP
Anyone who has witnessed The Teskey Brothers live in concert will attest to what a magical, near-religious experience it is. Their jaw-dropping 7-piece soul ensemble – built around the literal Teskey brothers of Sam and Josh – has been blazing a trail across the globe this year in anticipation of their headlining set at Good Day Sunshine… and all reports are that they are in the best form of their career. Fans are urged not to miss this exclusive WA event, which the band promises will be very special.
It’s been over a decade since The Teskey Brothers first stole the airwaves with their powerful weave of blues, soul and funky folk, and in that time they have become one of Australia’s most beloved and successful exports. ARIA Awards, #1 albums, a slew of hit singles… all the while touring near endlessly. For the last few years they’ve sold out headline shows across Europe, the UK, and North America – including appearances at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, Montreux Jazz, Merlefest, and Austin City Limits – returning home victorious as one of the most formidable festival bands on the planet. Mark this down as ‘unmissable’.
Returning to our shores after an absolutely stellar 2024 show, Boy & Bear will be picking up right where they left off, with a WA crowd immersed in their beautifully hypnotic, genre-defying music. Everyone knows that Boy & Bear are genius songwriters… after all, five ARIA Awards, five Top 10 albums, and multiple Platinum sales don’t grow on trees… but after 15 years at the forefront of Australian music, it is Boy & Bear’s immeasurable force as a live band that has made them legends. With a massive WA fanbase at their command, it is no surprise that they were brought back by popular demand to perform this year’s Good Day Sunshine.
But it’s not just us Sandgropers that love Boy & Bear. The band’s reputation has infiltrated international waters, earning them legions of fans across Europe and North America. Their most recent offerings – 2019’s ‘Suck On Light’ and 2023’s eponymous album – both stormed the Top 10, earning fan and critical praise for some of the best Australian music in decades. Testament to this, Boy & Bear continue to be one of the hottest ticket items in the country, with a reputation for being a truly world-class festival act. So, again, mark this as ‘unmissable’.
Actually, every act on this bill is unmissable. Good Day Sunshine 2025 is start-to-finish unmissable. Just ask Meg Mac, who has spent the last 10 years taking over the world. With one of those rare voices that is as beautiful as it is powerful, Meg Mac has written some of the most memorable songs in Australian music – effortlessly cherry-picking different styles to create something that is fresh, futuristic and utterly unique. Since emerging via Triple J’s Unearthed, the powerhouse vocalist has released three killer albums, the latest of which – 2022’s ‘Matter Of Time’ – smashed its way to #1 on the ARIA Charts. A dynamite live performer, Meg Mac has built a fanatical following both at home and in the USA, which has put her hotly in demand, and most worthy of being on this historic Good Day Sunshine line-up.
Centred around talented multi-instrumentalist Mat McHugh, The Beautiful Girls are also no stranger to worldwide acclaim – earning a massive following across the USA, Canada, South America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Garnering impressive sales, awards and glowing reviews, The Beautiful Girls have accomplished just about everything, with fans decreeing that each of the band’s five studio albums has been better than the one before it. Performing select favourites from across this entire catalogue, The Beautiful Girls are a most tasty addition to this absolutely stacked GDS line-up.
Well on her way to being crowned Australia’s next superstar, Charlie Collins adds a beautifully unique flavour to this year’s Good Day Sunshine. Having already released some of the best music of her career this year, like the haunting ‘Rock Bottom’ or ‘Transactional Deal’, the inimitable singer’s career is on an unstoppable roll. And why would it not be? In such a short time, Charlie Collins has released some of the most smouldering, soulful music in Australia, magnetising a devout fanbase in the process. A beautiful enigma of style-shifting artistry, Charlie Collins perfectly complements the other artists on the line-up, and is being touted as one of the main acts to watch at this year’s Good Day Sunshine.
If it’s one thing you can guarantee a Good Day Sunshine crowd will go nuts for, it’s the local legends. First up to bat in that category are the rapidly-rising duo of Ben and Mason, better known to the world as Dear Sunday. Blending impossibly catchy melodies with a bittersweet, emotional uplift, Dear Sunday have forged an impressive trail over the past few years – signing with Tone City Records and Untitled Artist MGMT on the back of some solid touring miles and most excellent music. Whether you like upbeat indie, boppy pop choruses, or the darker side of everything from reggae to alternative, Dear Sunday are a band you have to check out as soon as possible.
An absolute force of nature, Carla Geneve is hands-down one of WA’s most incredible artists, with a solid songbook (and eye-watering awards list) to her name. Still very much on the rise abroad as well as at home, Carla Geneve toured the USA in 2019 with San Cisco, leading the way for one stunning album after the next with 2022’s ‘Learn To Like It’, and 2023’s incredible ‘Hertz’. Masterfully balancing delicate tones of folk and country with the power of grunge and punk rock, Carla is an irrepressible musical talent – with the pipes to match. Undoubtedly one of WA’s next breakthrough artists, Good Day Sunshine is proud to showcase Carla Geneve to both her fans and soon-to-be fans.
Bestowed with the honour of opening 2025’s Good Day Sunshine, Tanya Ransom is the beautiful dark horse of the line-up, wielding a powerful potion of sombre alt country, folk and blues. With a voice like a tempered hurricane, Tanya Ransom’s music always dances the tightrope between restraint and all-out force – perfectly encapsulating her emotional, often melancholic lyrics. Raised in the northern paradise of Broome, Tanya’s music reflects not just the landscape of the outback but its isolation and danger. For all these reasons and more, she is the perfect way to kick off the biggest and best Good Day Sunshine ever.
