HEALTH hit the stage at Basement East in Nashville, TN to a sold-out crowd following an intro of “The Cruel Angel’s Thesis” from Neon Genesis Evangelion. First song of the evening set the pace with the performance of “Identity.” By the time they got to “Stonefist” close to mid-way through their hour and a half set the entire venue was dancing and cheering and singing back to the stage. This was the first time they had ever come to Nashville and everyone in attendance was ready for the chaos. The stage setup and lighting was exactly how I remembered it from the previous time seeing them perform and exceptional as always. The pace of the evening was great. The final two songs of the set were “Feel Nothing” and “DSM-V.” Such a great end to a loaded evening of sonic brilliance. The majority of their setlist was spread throughout their catalog but focusing mostly on their new album Rat Wars. Overall this was an extremely enjoyable event. There was not a sad face in the crowd except that the show was over. A highly recommended show for anyone of industrial with ethereal vocals. At the conclusion of the performance bassist John Famiglietti launched himself into the crowd and commenced to crowd-surf into the middle of the venue. Once he was put down he then began hugging and chatting and taking photos with everyone around. You could tell that even the band was beyond ecstatic with how well received and the energy in the house that night. This was my second time seeing them perform live and I will always catch them at this point if I am able to. They are highly recommended for anyone who enjoys great live performances.
