FAST FACTS
Midge Ure is bringing his career-spanning live show to Australia in October 2025
Apart from his accomplished solo career, Midge has had hits with the likes of Ultravox, The Rich Kids, Silk, Thin Lizzy and Visage over the years.
Had seven consecutive top 10 UK albums over 6 years with Ultravox, including hits such as ‘Reap the Wild Wind’, ‘Dancing With Tears in My Eyes’, ‘Love’s Great Adventure’ and 1981’s timeless ‘Vienna’
Co-wrote, directed and produced ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ with Bob Geldhoff, featuring U2, Boomtown Rats, George Michael, Duran Duran, Bannanarama, Paul Weller, Spandau Ballet, Boy George and more. The track has sold over 12 million copies.
Was instrumental in the original 1985 Live Aid concert (and performed alongside Ultravox for the festival), and was a producer for the 2005 Live 8 global performances.
Has his own number 1 hit with ‘If I Was’ from his solo UK number 2 album ‘The Gift’ in 1984
Wrote and performed on Silk’s ‘Forever & Ever’ (which managed to beat out ABBA’s ‘Mama Mia’ on Valentines day in 1976)
He wrote and produced “Fade to Grey” for Visage in 1980, then hit the top 10 in the summer of 1982 with his first release under his own name, an atmospheric take on the Tom Rush song made famous half a dozen years earlier by the Walker Brothers, ‘No Regrets’.
Midge has worked as a musical director for legendary concerts such as The Prince’s Trust, Night of the Poms, Wicked Women for Breakthrough, and In Honour Of Nelson Mandela performed alongside the likes of Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Sir Paul McCartney for the Music for Montserrat benefit in 1997
“I performed live long before I was ever allowed anywhere near a recording studio and as much as I love spending time writing and recording, live music remains my first love. This ‘Catalogue’ tour will allow me to not only play a wide selection of hits from my past but perform some of the most requested favourites. Revisiting these moments from my musical life is something I am really looking forward to sharing.”
MIDGE URE
“James Ure may be 71 years old but tonight he defies his years as he walks us through his biggest hits of the past whether that be with Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids, Ultravox, Visage or his own solo material, we were taken on a magical journey back in time for the appropriately named Catalogue: The Hits Tour.” BRING THE NOISE UK
“This tour celebrates five decades in the game; at 71, sharply suited in black with pate glistening beneath the retro-pomp new wave lights, the former Ultravox frontman has slipped into the keen role of elder statesman with seeming ease and comfort.” THE YORKSHIRE POST
“…if anyone doubts that Midge touching 70 has still got what it takes then think again. Tonight’s show was superb both vocally and musically, with a set full of hits from Visage and Ultravox and some lesser known but equally as strong material.” BACKSEAT MAFIA
“…his passion for pop music, particularly pop music with a message, is a wonder to behold, and you will feel the spirit move through you. Majestic.” THE BROKEN SPINE
