Saturday night in Winnipeg, and what better way to spend it than at a rock show? This time, the lucky crowd at the Park Theatre was treated to a fierce, emotional set from the one and only JJ Wilde, who brought down the house with her powerful voice and raw energy. The night kicked off with the Vancouver folk-pop duo FIONN, whose catchy lyrics and infectious riffs set the perfect vibe. The crowd was instantly warmed up, eager and ready for the main event.

JJ Wilde opened her set with “Off the Rails” from her 2021 EP WILDE, a fitting choice that set the tone for an intense night. Much of her setlist drew from her latest album, Vices, with standout performances of “Arizona,” “Best of Me,” “Bad Side,” and one of my personal favorites, “Mess to Make.” Wilde also revisited some classics, including “The Rush” from her 2020 award-winning debut Ruthless, arguably her most iconic song. The crowd erupted when she launched into it, a reminder of why she’s become such a powerful voice in rock. As the night wound down, JJ gave us an encore to remember, closing with “Bad Side” from Vices—a powerful ballad that showed the full range of her vocals—and “Best Boy” from her Wilde EP. Her voice filled every corner of the Park Theatre, and you could feel the crowd moving with every beat. From head-banging rock tracks to emotional ballads, JJ Wilde took us on a roller coaster of emotions. Some danced, others wiped away tears—she truly brought the whole room together in a shared experience that felt both personal and communal. If you’re a fan of authentic rock ‘n’ roll with real emotional grit, JJ Wilde’s show is one you can’t miss.
