Hard Rock Live Orlando was absolutely packed on Wednesday May 1, 2024 for the Say Anything: Is a Real Boy 20th Anniversary Tour, with openers AJJ, and Greet Death. The first set of the evening was Greet Death, a rock band from Michigan. Their indie rock sound had very strong vocals and was a great start to the night. Next in the lineup came AJJ, a folk punk band that call Arizona home. Their performance definitely cranked up the volume and had the audience very engaged. Once Say Anything was on stage, the crowd abundantly roared with cheers. The venue was filled to the brim with fans excited to hear them play their album …Is a Real Boy. Say Anything played through the first eleven tracks on the original release of the album. Then added two songs from the re-issue’s bonus disc – ”Most Beautiful Plague” and “Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too.” They finished off the night with encore songs; “I Want to Know Your Plans” and “Admit It!!!,” which completed the original thirteen song album. The first encore song “I Want to Know Your Plans” featured Sherri DuPree, and was such a touchingly beautiful rendition that myself and a large number of audience members were brought to tears. As everyone sang along to the closing song “Admit It!!!,” you could tell the audience really enjoyed the entire evening. As the house lights came up, you could see fans beaming with smiles. I heard many having conversations about which songs were their favorites of the night. Even twenty years later, Say Anything still delivers an amazing performance that leaves fans excited for their next tour announcement.
