This show was a reschedule from August to a highly energized crowd. Everybody was ready and waiting for months for this performance. Young Fathers hit the stage in full force at The 9:30 Club  in Washington, D.C. Filled with extremely high energy and attitude they delivered an amazing set to an ecstatic crowd. They played a varied spread of hits from their entire catalog. This was the first time I have been fortunate to see Young Fathers perform live and I can say that I will go out of my way to see them again. The pure impact of the presentation on the stage and lighting were exceptionally on point with the mood and vibe of the evening. Their set only lasted around an hour and a half but how they stacked the evening with new and old songs it honestly was perfect. Spreading out new and old songs throughout the course of the performance kept full form and flow for the night. The final two songs of the set were “I Saw” and “Toy” and everyone was ready for it. Such a great end to a loaded evening of sonic brilliance. The intro for the evening was a short set by Callum Easter; one of the members of the band. He played several songs to get the crowd ready for the main performance to come. Once Young Fathers hit the stage they immediately jumped into “Shoot Me Down” off of their newest release Heavy Heavy followed up with “Queen is Dead” and  “Get Up”. The majority of their setlist was spread throughout their catalog but focusing mostly on their new album Heavy Heavy. Overall this was an extremely enjoyable event. There was not a sad face in the crowd except that the show was over. A highly recommended show for anyone of lo-fi and inditronica and avantpop.
