Days in Winnipeg Manitoba are finally starting to feel like spring, and what better time to go watch one of Winnipeg’s very own, Comeback Kid. It was a night filled with nostalgia. Coming from a Hardcore Punk background myself, since I had not been at a Hardcore Punk show in many years, it was quite a welcomed experience. We were blessed with 4 powerful, energetic, Hardcore punk opener bands setting the pace, of which 3 were local bands: Every Second Counts, Nuclear Man, Human Target, and Spy, who drove up from California to join Comeback Kid on this tour.

When Comeback Kid hit the stage to a sold out crowd, they hit the stage fast & hard, it didn’t take long for the crowd to turn into a moshing and stage diving frenzy. I would like to say that the crowd eventually tired out, but they didn’t; they stayed with Comeback Kid all the way through to the last song and matched every second of the energy that Comeback Kid was putting out. Comeback Kid’s set list consisted of a good variety of tracks, from songs like “All in a Year” from their debut album Turn it Around all the way to songs from their most recent EP Trouble with songs like “Trouble in the Winners Circle,”  with other honourable mentions like “Absolute,” “Wasted Arrows,” “Talk is Cheap,” and one of my personal favourites “Do Yourself a Favour,” ending their set with their most iconic song to date, “Wake the Dead,” which sent the crowd absolutely wild; no better way to end the night! It was a raw, powerful, euphoric experience, leaving everyone in the building drenched in sweat. Hardcore Punk will always have a special place in my heart. Comeback Kid did not disappoint.
