To an extremely energetic and nearly sold out crowd in attendance Squid hit the stage in style at Basement East in Nashville, TN. The evening was an absolute fun filled event. Everybody in attendance was dancing and enjoying their performance. High energy and full of all what I liked to think was a Post-Punk cross between Television and The Rapture vibes one would want in a show. They jumped straight into their latest single “Fugue” getting the crowd pumped with energy. The majority of the show was from their newest album O Monolith with a few songs from their other albums tossed in for good mix. Playing to the crowd with several musical solo breaks and thoroughly enjoying what they do on stage this show was stellar. Stage setup and lighting were exceptionally on point with the mood and vibe of the evening. Their set only lasted around an hour and a half but how they stacked the evening with new and old songs it honestly was perfect. No encore was performed on this gig, but the overall length and intensely stellar performance really didn’t require one. The reactions and attitudes of everyone leaving the show afterwards were excited and happy. There was not a sad face in the crowd except that the show was over. This is a band that is highly recommended to catch live even if you aren’t that familiar with their music. This was my first time being able to catch a Squid performance and I can say that they are simply a show to see.

Setlist: Fugue (Bin Song) – Undergrowth – Pancake Day – Paddling – Glass – Narrator – Green Light – After the Flash – Swing (in a Dream) – Broadcaster – Pamphlets – The Blades
