After more than a two-year Covid delay, the Goo Goo Dolls were finally able to perform their rescheduled concert in Indy. Frontman John Rzeznik and bass player Robby Takac formed the group all the way back in 1986 in Buffalo New York. They exploded in the 1990’s with now classic hits “Name” and “Iris.” On August 12, they will release their 13th studio album Chaos in Bloom. The lead single “Yeah, I like You” is available now. Their summer tour 2022 includes alt rockers Blue October who got the night started in fine fashion with their hits “Hate Me,” “Into the Ocean,” and “I Hope You’re Happy.” The Goo Goo Dolls took the stage next to a raucous cheer. John and Robby’s camaraderie was palpable throughout the evening. They appeared to be having as much fun as the fans in attendance. They opened with their new single and followed it right up with “Slide.” Robby took the mic for “Lucky Star” reminding us he was often the vocalist in their early more punk rock years. At one point John let out a Rick Flair “Wooooo” and was surprised when the crowd echoed it back even louder. They highlighted hits from their 35-year career and even included a Tom Petty cover. Fans were singing along, dancing and enjoying the Friday evening out. The Goo Goo Dolls put on a great performance, worthy of the long wait!
