It is the 15th show of the tour, and quite ironically the Swedish satanic stage show was in full swing at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio on the 15th day of February. Ghost began the show with their new song “Kaisarion” off their March 11, 2022 record Impera. It’s quite the ballad of musicianship and incorporates all the fun lyrical elements of Ghost’s song catalog. The fans were excited to sing along with the new track, especially the chorus: “When a paradise is lost, go straight to hell!” It works perfectly as an opener both showcasing Tobias’s lyrical prowess, while also introducing you to the new look for the nameless ghouls band. The Ghoulies have now shed their “devil masks” for a new steampunk astronaut helmet with little devil horns poking out of the top. It’s their comedic interaction that really wins over the crowd on this night. With extra-long guitar solo being played before “Mummy Dust,” the Nameless Bass Guitar Ghoul tries to tell his bandmate on guitar to cut it off. Without much success, he ultimately has to go pry the guitar pick out of his hands adding the comedic value of the overall show. Ghost concerts are always a visually and auditory delight. With the massive cathedral curtain, to the seance level lighting, to deep echoing of the chanting of Satan’s various monikers before the song “Year Zero.” It’s hard not to get chills when the intro to that song hits the eardrums. It also introduces the audience to Papa Emeritus IV, while eschewing in massive flames that seem to engulf the entire backdrop. Ghost even gave us a faithful (see what I did there?) cover of Metallic’s “Enter Sandman” from the compilation The Blacklist! Twin Temple opened the show, however; it was Danish rockers Volbeat providing a nice punch to the middle of the show with their tracks like “Die To Live,” “Doc Holiday,” and the massively fun opening tune “Seal the Deal.” The fans in attendance braved long lines in the cold and were rewarded with an enjoyable performance suited to make them forget that these are not normal times. If you have a tour date close to your city, please buy a ticket and don’t miss out on the fun that is Ghost!
Special Note** Make sure that you check out the hilarious parody of Ghost Vs. Ghost online or on Instagram. It’s Ghoulishly Hilarious!
