There are songs that will forever be a part of your musical repertoire as a music lover and legends Foghat have contributed one of those tracks (as well as a bunch of others) with their classic “Slow Ride.”  The band in its current incarnation – original drummer Roger Earl, long time guitarist Bryan Bassett, bassist Rodney O’Quinn and recent addition and longtime friend of the band Scott  Holt – jumped into the Seminole Hard Rock Event Center after performing several shows on the 2022 edition of the Rock Legends Cruise.  Hitting the stage without the benefit of an opener to warm up the crowd, the band had its work cut out for it, but on this February Thursday night, the band was up to the challenge.  Hitting fast and hard, the band delivered a killer set of classics and even a track from their last release – 2016’s Under The Influence.  The foursome delivered a night or ‘boogie and rock and roll’ to a packed house that got progressively more into the evening as the set moved through great rockers like set openers “Road Fever” and “Drivin’ Wheel.”  The real magic of the evening that seemed to make the show that much better was the number of smiles and good vibes that were being passed around on stage from drummer Earl that extended to frontman Holt and from side to side with Bassett and O’Quinn.  A personal favorite track of the night was “Upside Of Lonely” which featured one of the best vocals from Scott in my opinion. As other tracks hit the audiences sweet spot, it was obvious the band was having as much fun as the crowd and the energy grew with each passing moment as the band worked through their set and worked into a killer finale that included a cover of Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” that originally featured guitarist Bassett back in 1976.  The aforementioned “Slow Ride” closed the show and for good reason.  The song reverberated through the venue from the beginning, through the verses and chorus, and especially as the elongated bridge and breakdown pushed the song to the finish line.  Whether you know the bands catalog or just the hits, this is a show for you and sure to put a smile on your face and a song in your head.
