Boat Week in Port Huron is a big deal with huge crowds wandering the streets in the evening.  The setting and the weather could not have been better for an outdoor show in an adjacent lot at McMorran Place for Drake White & The Big Fire to set up shop and rock the crowd with the Alabama style Country with a set full of hits, some covers, and a lot of great music.  After an opening set from local band The Gasoline Gypsies, Drake and his band took the stage on time and set the pace for the evening when they ripped into “It Feels Good,” which drew screams and a lot of sing-along participation from the crowd.  The ticketed area in front of the stage was packed.  The song morphed and a couple cover pieces were tossed into the songs mix with “I Feel Good” and “Rollin'” adding to the opening fun.  Next was “Back To Free” and you could feel how free the energy and fun flowed from the stage to the crowd and back again.  Drake sang with precision and purpose, all while playing guitar and leading his band through their paces.  After another medley piece that included “Heartbeat” and “Use Somebody,” one of my personal favorites hit the set list when White prompted his band to mix ’em up as they launched into “Mix ‘Em With Whiskey.”  Other fan favorites and hits dotted the musical landscape as the evening turned to night.  More great songs were on the horizon, including “The Coast Is Clear,” “Hurts The Healing,” and another standard in my playlist, “Livin’ The Dream.”  There is no doubt Drake enjoys what he does as he was smiles all evening and feeding off the energy of the packed crowd as the setlist ticked to the encore and the end.  While my favorite track of White’s didn’t hit the setlist tonight, it just gives me more reason to see him over and over until I finally hear “Girl In Pieces” live.  Do yourself a favor – grab some friends, some tickets, and head out for a fun night with music music and a fun vibe that drapes a Drake White & The Big Fire show.
