Margaret River’s Good Day Sunshine Festival coming soon!

Hot on the heels of Here Comes The Sun Festival and Sugarloaf Rock Festival, the Margaret River region continues its run as the live music hot spot of summer with the announcement of Good Day Sunshine Festival. Taking over the beautiful grounds of 3 Oceans Winery on Saturday, March 21 2020, Good Day Sunshine features the absolutely stellar lineup of John Butler, Xavier Rudd, Josh Pyke, Ainslie Wills, Kyle Lionhart, Dulcie and Moon & Honey… plus a glorious array of local artisan food, drinks, stalls and artists. Tickets are on sale now from www.gooddaysunshinefest.com

Knowing how special and momentous this night will be, the lovely people behind Good Day Sunshine have pulled out all the stops to create an event that Australian fans will remember for the rest of their lives. Joining the heavyweights of John Butler and Xavier Rudd will be a hand-picked selection of exceptional Australian artists – both established and brand new – who tap into that same gold vein as the esteemed headliners… Josh Pyke, Ainslie Wills, Kyle Lionhart, Dulcie and Margaret River’s own Moon & Honey.

BEHIND THE VINES ON THE LUSCIOUS LAWNS OF 3 OCEANS WINERY 3 Oceans Winery has proven itself to be one of the most outstanding live music venues in the South West, so it is no surprise that the good folk behind Here Comes The Sun and Sugarloaf Rock would once again return to the pictureperfect estate. In addition to Here Comes The Sun and Sugarloaf Rock, 3 Oceans Winery has previously hosted exemplary talent such as Tash Sultana, Rüfüs Du Sol, The Waifs, The Cat Empire & Boy and Bear, making it a clear-cut favourite among discerning punters. From its stunning grounds to its selection of internationally renowned wines, 3 Oceans is the star of Metricup – located 16 kilometres from Margaret River and only 30 kilometres from Busselton down the Bussell Highway.

THE LINE-UP From his days busking the streets of Fremantle, to touring the world, John Butler has become one of the most successful Australian artists of all time. With a staggering six combined APRA and ARIA awards, five classic studio albums (three of which held number one spots on the charts) and literally millions of followers worldwide, John is the very embodiment of the global blues and roots community. A guitar and banjo player of unparalleled skill – with an instantly recognisable voice – John will be performing solo, pulling out all of his most loved and endearing material, in an intimate set that is tailor-made for his devout WA fans.

Xavier Rudd has had a profound impact on Australian culture that goes far beyond music and art, reaching deep into the soul of the nation. From his lifelong humanitarian work, to his advocacy of First Nations rights, Xavier has been a shining example of how to be a good human… on top of which he has carved out an absolutely mind-blowing music career. Over the course of nine studio albums and eight live albums Xavier has earned a swag of Gold and Platinum records, a plethora of ARIA nods, has toured worldwide countless times, and has developed one of the most loyal fanbases on the planet. Ever the consummate live performer, Xavier will play a solo set of his most iconic material – spanning from his 2004 debut Solace to 2018’s beautiful Storm Boy. Everyone in the world knows that a Xavier Rudd performance is something not to be missed.

Another artist with a trophy cabinet overflowing with ARIA Award victories and nominations, Josh Pyke is returning to WA by demand for a spot on the coveted Good Day Sunshine line-up. Characterised by his effortlessly smooth voice and summery indie-folk guitar playing, Josh Pyke’s songs are the quintessential blend of catchy melodies and heartfelt, poetic lyrics – earning him the reputation as one of Australia’s greatest songwriters. Performing all of his classic material – from 2007’s Memories & Dust right through to 2015’s But For All These Shrinking Hearts – Josh is a most welcome addition to a bill garnered with world-class talent.

Melbourne’s Ainslie Wills has risen to become one of Australia’s most critically-acclaimed artists since her breakthrough 2013 debut You Go Your Way, I’ll Go Mine. Her latest album All You Have Is All You Need has continued this run of success, producing the incredible singles Society and Fear Of Missing Out, which have found the singer-songwriter yet again inundated with rave reviews from fans and the media alike. Anyone who has seen Ainslie perform live will attest to the strength of her songs, which she delivers with a masterful balance of power and delicacy.

Wielding a voice that can break hearts, Kyle Lionhart is a new talent with an old soul – elegantly captured on his remarkable 2019 debut Too Young. A singer, songwriter and surfer, Kyle is a kindred spirit to WA’s South West, which has unsurprisingly embraced the Byron Bay native as one of its own. Another Good Day Sunshine artist who cut his teeth busking, Kyle has since generated tens of millions of streams and toured the world with Xavier Rudd, proving he has no issue whatsoever sharing the stage with the biggest names of the genre.

Well-deserved winners at this year’s WAM Awards, Dulcie are one of the brightest new stars to emerge from the prestigious and talent-stacked West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Barely a year into their career, the indie-pop quartet have rapidly made a name for themselves at home and across the country – sporting a level of songwriting and musicianship seldom seen in a band so young. Sweet melodies, clever arrangements and electrifying stage presence – Dulcie have it all.

Giving the line-up a proper local flavour are Margaret River duo Moon & Honey. Making music born of their love for one another, and the life that love creates, Moon & Honey aptly describe their sound as Folk d’Amour – a seamless marriage of melody and emotion. Intertwining two guitars and blissful dual vocal harmonies, Moon & Honey create an atmosphere that is hard to resist and impossible to forget… making them the perfect act to kick off the inaugural Good Day Sunshine.
