Punk rockers the Violent Femmes are out on tour in support of their 10^th studio album Hotel Last Resort. Rising to meteoric fame in the 80’s with their first self titled album, the on and off again group’s new material was just released in July and features their signature sound of feel-good folk punk. The band took the stage on another gorgeous late summer night. The crowd was spirited and sang along in unison with the band. Fans danced in the lawn and in the aisles of the seated areas of the amphitheater.  The 18-song setlist included both old and new. At the conclusion of the show the Femmes were available for autographs at the merch table as a huge line formed.

A quick stage set up was followed by Ben Folds arrival. He headed right to the piano, playing “Annie Waits.” The ultimate entertainer, Ben mixed songs with his notorious story telling.  He even has a new book, A Dream About Lightning Bugs that was just released. Though a large crowd and venue, Folds interaction with the crowd made it seem a more intimate and personal experience. The crowd sang along as he played the grand piano. Though different genres of music, the combination of the Femmes and Folds made for fun loving night of musical entertainment.
