A Dirty Dozen with BILLY GREY of THE AUDIODACITY – November 2018
According to a recent press release: “Introducing, The Audiodacity, a new tri-state Rock and Roll band that features Billy Grey from Fozzy on guitars, Dusty Winterrowd of Allele and Cyberstar on drums and Marcus Davis of Ph8and Methods of Mayhem on vocals. The band has finished recording their first song “Bridges Burned” with Producer Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Atilla, The Word Alive) from Good Sound Studios in Tempe, AZ.” We get guitarist Billy to discuss new music, influences, and much more…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
Our latest release is a long time coming. The three of us worked hard on bouncing ideas back and forth until we felt it was right. We then went and recorded with Matt Good (Asking Alexandria) to get what we wanted the World to hear. The chorus starts with a 1-2 punch and drives into a melodic singable hook we all feel.
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?
I liked Kiss and the whole super hero thing, but realized I wanted to do it for real after seeing Van Halen with David Lee Roth.
3. Who would be your main five musical influences?
Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Dimebag Darrel, Queen, and Earth, Wind, & Fire.
4. If you could call in any collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?
Bruno Mars and Dave Grohl
5. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before?
Heavy rock with no boundaries.
6. What’s the best thing about being a musician?
Creating, playing live, playing alone, playing with friends, watching people feeling good while your playing.
7. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who gets the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
We all would share drink duties, Marcus and I would break out the acoustics, then Dusty will join in on percussion.
8. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?
Forest Ranger. I love animals, the outdoors, and Bigfoot!
9. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”, even if it didn’t change your current situation?
I would have worked harder in my earlier years instead of partying and doing the whole Rockstar thing. Nothing is more satisfying than being a part of writing good songs.
10. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any record in history, which would you choose?
Van Halen Fair Warning, Pantera Far Beyond Driven and Michael Jackson Thriller.
