“Dangerous Curves”: The very name conjures images of teased haired babes grinding to Bon Jovi and Poison videos in the spandex years – so they nailed that, sound wise. These latest cock-rock revivalists do it with style, referencing a bunch of your favourites, while still sounding exactly like… well… Dangerous Curves.
Everything that goes around comes around.
If you’re in the mood for the anthemic arena-sized choruses and distinctive guitar of Def Leppard, set the controls for the ripsnorting Art Of The Heart, while Funky Bonez channels all the funk rock of Extreme.
There’s hints of a slew of lesser-league bands like Bulletboys, Roxy Blue and the like, and in I Need Lovin’ the quartet manage an awesome rocker that sacrifices none of its groove by being acoustic, while the title track and Ready Or Not are perfect party anthems.
Sure, it’s derivative, but this is an assured and well-played collection from talented guys which is bound to appeal to anyone missing those big-haired, spandex-clad days.
