BATS gather up a barrowful of influences for this debut album and spew it out like post-modernist art.
Elements of Britpop and ‘90s alt-rock vie with modern psyche and noise-rock touches to produce a sound which is simultaneously fresh and retro.
Driving Queens Of The Stone Age riffs propel Truthless and Tarantula, while vocals swirl around in trippy style, drummer pounding away relentlessly. Who You Know features heavy bass and distorted vocals, while Beirut sounds like Oasis on a cider bender and closing acoustic number Faithless lets us come down from the trip gently.
