Last year I reviewed the Must Be Free album by reggae and dub producer legend Lee Scratch Perry. This album by Spacewave – effectively John S. Palmer – is the original music that he made for Perry to manipulate on Must Be Free.
Ambient and heavy dub swirl with distinct trippy psych vibrations all through the record, and if the songs lack a strong identity of their own, we must remember the purpose for which they were originally made.
It is enjoyable stuff though – and undoubtedly would be heightened by the application of a little toke of something mind-bending (not that that’s my thing, nor do I advocate it to you – but if that’s how you roll, you’ll roll right into this)
Some other stuff you might dig
