WEST COAST LOWDOWN 2017 – Perth, October 14th & 15th
Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre

Kustom Kulture with its focus on traditional styled hot rods, kustoms, bikes and tattoos, is the fastest growing segment of the youth market. It spans across many genres and attracts a much younger demographic than existing automotive shows. The key differentiator being a focus on involvement, music, tattooing, skate and bikes.

Every state in Australia currently has a Kustom Kulture Festival, with Western Australia being the sole state to miss out. Every year people make the pilgrimage to Victoria for Chopped, or to Queensland for Greazefest or to Sydney for Gasoline and Garterbelts.

Now it’s Perth’s turn.

With the Lowdown in its third instalment and with the amazing PCEC as our stand-out venue we are ready to deliver the best show WA has seen, and one that will become known across Australia as a destination event.

Kustom Kulture pays homage to the custom car pioneers and their maverick spirit embodied in their wild counter-culture designs. The ‘anti-Mickey-Mouse’ Rat Fink of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, the wild candy and metalflake paint jobs of Larry Watson, the elaborate and ornate pinstriping designs of Von Dutch all conveyed the burning desire to reshape the world the way YOU want it to be.

The resurgence of popularity of kustom kulture in the 2000’s has seen the influx of modern influences that share the same vision. Skaters, punk rockers, greasers, lowbrow artists, tattooists, punk rock bands and many more all connect to the unspoken understanding of what it means to go it your own way.

Our team have created individual feature zones that form an integrated experience for attendees moving from one attraction to the next.

1. Kustom Kavalcade – Never before attempted at an indoor show in WA, each Featured Builder vehicle will be driven into the pavilion and parked – live in front of a grandstand audience, with an MC introduction for each vehicle.

2. Lowrider Hop King Showcase – The boxing ring of the lowrider world, with live lowrider hopping in a dedicated fenced arena. Never seen in WA – pure Southern California car culture. See the Hop King hit the highest height of over 6ft – that’s almost vertical!

3. Skate Ramp – Giving another major nod to the crossover between skate, punk and hot rodding, we have included a 6ft face half pipe for those addicted to skate. Long live Psycho Mike. Long live Steve Caballero! Attendees are encouraged to bring their skateboards and enjoy the ramp, fully supervised by local professionals.

4. Bike Build-Off – 20 of the state’s top custom bike builders compete under strict conditions to become the top Bike Builder for Lowdown 2017. Building to a strict budget of just $10,000 the challenge is designed to show off what can be built by the average builder with limited funds.

These features ensure the Lowdown is an event like no other in WA. With the addition of Tattoo Alley, a mini tattoo convention right in the middle of the show, the Lowdown brings all of the elements of Southern California street culture to Perth.

Is it a tattoo show with lowriders? Or a skate party with hot rods? Whatever your interest, the Lowdown brings something for you.

This year’s Lowdown includes:
• Featured Builder – 6 Cars, 6 Bikes built by the best in WA and across Australia
• Kavalcade of Kustoms – Parade of Featured Builder vehicles into the venue
