Bluesfest Touring announce sideshows for ROBERT PLANT, NEW POWER GENERATION, MORCHEEBA and GOV’T MULE!
Hot off the heels of winning the hotly contested Best International Contemporary Concert at the Helpmann Awards for Patti Smith’s final Australian Tour; Bluesfest Touring has announced they will bring Robert Plant the beloved former lead singer of Led Zeppelin to Australia for his first Theatre tour in 2018. Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters will perform in Melbourne and Perth, as well as in Sydney where they will be presented by The Sydney Opera House. Each night Robert Plant will take audiences on an incredible journey through his unique musical life. These shows will include rare performances of some Led Zeppelin hits in intimate spaces, allowing fans to experience the full power of his legendary vocal prowess.
It is an honor for Bluesfest Touring to bring original members of The New Power Generation (The NPG) to Sydney and Melbourne in March. The NPG’s intent is to honor Prince who was their boss and mentor, giving fans a chance to celebrate and say goodbye to one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Those who knew Prince knew that he was always pushing himself and experimenting with new sounds and the musical chemistry of working with new musicians was a part of that process. When he formed The NPG in 1990 they went on together to create ‘Diamond & Pearls’ a record that sparked more hits on the Billboard charts than any other Prince album released since Purple Rain. These included “Cream”, “Gett Off” and of course “Diamond and Pearls”. The NPG’s shows will be an opportunity to hear Prince’s music played by the people who made it with him, including long time musical director Morris Hayes. Get ready to laugh, dance and cry to some of his biggest hits one more time.
Prepare to bliss out on the sweet, sensual vocals of Skye Edwards as Morcheeba return to Australia after a 4 year absence. Morcheeba define the ‘chill out’ genre with songs like “Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day”, “The Sea”, “Even Though” and “Otherwise”. Played in cafés, lounge rooms and at Sunday sessions around the world, there are few who can’t sing along to these beloved tunes. Their new album SKYE | ROSS pursues its own musical path while returning to the roots of the sound that made Morcheeba a household name back in the late 1990s. With a music career spanning 22 years and millions of albums sold worldwide, Morcheeba are a true phenomenon. Their Sydney and Melbourne shows are a chance for fans to dance to the smooth sounds of these pioneers of British trip-hop and soul.
Bluesfest Touring is proud to announce an unmissable double header for Rock n Roll fans – Gov’t Mule with special guests Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real. The Metro in Sydney and The Corner in Melbourne are set to come alive with the sound of epic guitar and thundering drums when the bands roll into town in March.
Gov’t Mule has showcased their virtuosity, intelligence and breadth for more than two decades, which have encompassed 15 studio and live albums, millions of album and track sales and thousands of performances. Formed as a side project for members of The Allman Brothers Band and with ties to The Grateful Dead, Gov’t Mule has become a human encyclopaedia of timeless American music while adding to that canon with their signature sound.
The buzz around Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real was immense when they last played Australia in 2016, and has done nothing but intensify over the past 2 years. Lukas first piqued music lovers’ attention on his dad Willie Nelson’s 2012 album, Heroes when their voices blended with potent DNA. Two years later, life took another turn skyward when Neil Young decided to make Promise of the Real his touring and studio band. These experiences were undoubtedly invaluable, but none of what has come before will prepare you for the cosmic country soul of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, the band’s new, self-titled album released on August 25, 2017. Sydney and Melbourne will be in for a treat when Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real deliver their self-described blend of ‘Cowboy Hippy Surf Rock’ next March.
Pre-sale for all show starts Wednesday 18 October 10am AEDT
