Adelitas Way announced a headlining show here in Knoxville a few weeks ago, to the surprise of fans. The show was at the Concourse at The International, which is a smaller, more intimate venue that is great for more stripped-down performances. However, Adelitas Way brought their full energy and a long setlist with plenty of their top hits, like “Ready for War (Pray for Peace),” “Notorious,” “Invincible,” and “Bad Reputation.” The crowd was much smaller than expected, but Adelitas Way made it feel like a chance for fans to really connect. Their stage setup was very simple, and I appreciated the touch of a small toy dinosaur on the drums. No fog, no fancy backdrop, and no theatrics. Just good hard rock and a crowd excited to sing along with a beer. Frontman Rick DeJesus catered to the audience throughout the show, even stopping to make jokes, hand out setlists, and recognize a birthday. Trevor Stafford was also very impressive on drums, with plenty of spinning drumsticks and energy. Overall, this was the perfect hard rock show for a night out. The band brought their best energy and made every effort to leave an impression on the audience. I feel like they had as much fun as everyone who came out to see the show.
