JOHN FARNHAM RETURNS TO A DAY ON THE GREEN in Perth

With very special guests MONDO ROCK, KATE CEBERANO, AND THE BADLOVES, Kings Park & Botanic Garden – Sunday December 17

A Day On The Green is excited to announce that the legendary JOHN FARNHAM will headline the first concert of the summer season at Kings Park & Botanic Garden in Perth on Sunday December 17.

Fifteen years after launching in Western Australia and having celebrated its milestone 400th show last year, the popular outdoor event is looking forward to another bumper season with fabulous concerts planned.

Performing under the stars and surrounded by one of the most beautiful parks in the world, Australian music icon JOHN FARNHAM will be joined by special guests, the mighty MONDO ROCK, the fabulous KATE CEBERANO and soulful rockers THE BADLOVES, in what promises to be an unforgettable show.

John last performed at A Day On The Green in Perth in 2015 and is looking forward to returning to Kings Park & Botanic Garden.

“I’ve always had a fantastic time playing at a day on the green,” John said. “The locations are such beautiful venues to perform at and the crowds are always great. I’m really looking forward to the shows.”

Drawing on the phenomenal songbook from his stellar four decade-long career, the 19-time ARIA Award winner and all-round top bloke continues to be “The Voice” of Australian music, thrilling audiences with his onstage charisma and those incredible vocals.

Whether it’s hits from his landmark ’80s albums Whispering Jack and Age Of Reason, like You’re The Voice, Pressure Down, A Touch Of Paradise, Age Of Reason and Two Strong Hearts, or his earlier material such as Sadie The Cleaning Lady, One and Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, there are few Australian performers as beloved as ‘Farnsy’.

Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the 24-platinum selling Whispering Jack, which holds iconic status in Australian music history being the first local album to sell more than one million copies in Australia. But John has never been one to rest on his laurels. He’s had an incredible nine number one albums since Whispering Jack, including last year’s chart-topping duets album with Olivia Newton-John, Friends For Christmas.

The chemistry will be right when MONDO ROCK take to the a day on the green stage. Fronted by the great Ross Wilson and fuelled by the song-writing genius of Wilson and Eric McCusker, their songs have provided the soundtrack to our lives for the past four decades. Always stylish and sophisticated, theirs was a cool world indeed. If you need any proof of their master pop craftsmanship, just press play on State of the Heart, Chemistry, Summer of ’81, Primitive Love Rites, Baby Wants to Rock, No Time and Come Said the Boy. Earlier this year saw the release of Mondo Rock: The Greatest Hits, featuring their original version of A Touch of Paradise, which John Farnham recorded four years later.

KATE CEBERANO also holds a special place in the hearts of Australian audiences. Her achievements include five Platinum albums, five Gold albums and more than 2 million albums sold. Twenty-four albums over 30 years makes her Australia’s most prolific female recording artist of this era. With her soulful voice and enchanting onstage presence, Kate has had a wildly successful and diverse career. She has sung for Prince Charles, won Best Female Vocalist at the Countdown Awards, starred in Jesus Christ Superstar, won Dancing With The Stars, been Queen of Moomba, appeared in the movies Dust Off The Wings and Molokai, and had her own TV show, Kate Ceberano and Friends. And, of course, Kate has made chart-topping pop, jazz and blues albums and last year released The Kate Ceberano Anthology, a three-disc, 53-song celebration of her music to date.

Fronted by singer Michael Spiby, THE BADLOVES have released six albums, won three ARIA Awards and produced classic singles like Lost, Green Limousine, I Remember and Caroline, as well as a cover of The Weight with Jimmy Barnes. The band are back together touring and last year released a live album, Raw Honey.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 17 – KINGS PARK & BOTANIC GARDEN

This summer season marks the 17th year of a day on the green, which started in January 2001. After more than 425 shows and three million happy patrons, the a day on the green experience of good food, good wine and great music is firmly established as one of Australia’s most popular concert events.
