For the thirtieth anniversary of Roy Orbison’s Black & White Night all-star television special, the entire package has been revisited from scratch: all footage from every camera originally used has been re-edited; the sound is immaculate; liner notes from Roy Jr are illuminating and heartfelt; a special, secret post-show show featuring five tracks is included; as well as a 33 minutes behind the scenes documentary, featuring interviews with the heavyweight musical players.

And what heavyweights they are: Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, K D Lang, T Bone Burnett, J D Souther, Jennifer Warnes and Tom Waits. That is a dream team, right there – and Roy himself is in scintillating form.

The CD is as fantastic as the DVD, with the secret post show tracks also available for free download with an included code.

A treat for fans of Orbison, rock and roll, his dream team of players, and essential for any self-respecting music lover, Black & White Night 30 is perfect.
