BOOK REVIEW: Star Wars – Adventures in Wild Space, The Escape by Cavan Scott

Thankfully this slim novel is a World Book Day 2016 title, and as such is priced very affordably, as it is a similarly slim tale.

Milo & Luna’s cartographer parents are taken by the agents of the evil Empire, leaving them to fend for themselves on a wild and inhospitable planet, whilst Stormtroopers search for them.

Clearly aimed at very young readers, there is little to this story and it can realistically be read within a half hour. In fact, with the book finishing with the children piloting their parents’ ship off the uncharted planet, The Escape could easily have been a mere chapter or two in a larger story.

Effectively a taster for longer sequels The Snare and The Nest, The Escape serves as an adequate introduction for young readers to another aspect of the Star Wars universe, but it’s hardly ground breaking stuff.
