I don’t know if there are many deserts near Chiliomodi, Greece, but 1000 MODS have the fuzzy desert rock sound down pat, a la Kyuss, Karma To Burn et al.
Leaning heavily into the stoner rock wind and wielding layers of psych-drenched feedback, the four-piece gets their groove on from opener Claws and doesn’t let up for about an hour.
More a collection of instellar jams riding the wave of whatever peyote, shrooms or hash they’ve ingested, than a set of songs, the riff-barrage features all the stoner rock boxes ticked: Nods to Sabbath, enormous bottom end, dry but warm sonics.
By the time you get to Modesty and final track Reverb Of The New World you’ll feel like your soul has been tousled vigorously, and you should try not to be driving as the passive stoning will take a while to wear off.
