Peaches has just completed RUB… her first studio album in over five years to be released later this year. Fifteen years ago, Peaches exploded onto the scene with the track “Fuck The Pain Away.” In the following years, she has become a symbol of progressive and transgressive pop culture, shattering gender stereotypes, promoting sex positivity, and constantly pushing through boundaries of art and performance. The 160-page hardbound What Else Is In The Teaches of Peaches presents Peaches in spaces in and out of the public eye, through evocative, incredibly intimate, and never-before-seen photos captured from 2009 through 2014 by photographer Holger Talinski. In addition to a foreword from Peaches explaining how her collaboration with Talinksi came into being, the book also features pieces written by Yoko Ono, who discusses Peaches’ performance of Ono’s famous work, Cut Piece, Michael Stipe, who praises Peaches’ strength, ferocity, and dedication, noting “she will speak for any and all of us if we will not speak for ourselves,” and the actress Ellen Page, who shares the transformative empowerment of seeing Peaches live when she was sixteen years old. About Peaches:
Peaches, born Merrill Nisker in Toronto, is a musician, singer, performance artist, producer, filmmaker, actress, and writer, who has lived and worked in Berlin since 2000. She has released four albums – The Teaches of Peaches,Fatherfucker, Impeach My Bush, and I Feel Cream. She has collaborated and appeared as a guest vocalist on albums by R.E.M., P!NK, Christina Aguilera, The Flaming Lips, Iggy Pop and many more. Her songs have been featured in dozens of films and TV shows including Lost In Translation, Mean Girls, 30 Rock, South Park, True Blood and more. Peaches has performed in more than fifty countries and has constantly toured the world for the past fourteen years. She created a critically acclaimed one-woman version of Jesus Christ Superstar, rechristened Peaches Christ Superstar, and sang the lead role of L’Orfeo in a production of Monteverdi’s seventeenth-century Italian opera. Peaches’ most ambitious work to date was the mythical autobiographical electro rock stage-show-turned-film called Peaches Does Herself. Her debut feature film premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival and was warmly received at over seventy film festivals around the world. She just completed work on her first studio album in over five years – RUB – which will see release later in 2015.
