Lee Aaron - Lee Aaron Project cover

Before she was a Metal Queen, a pop diva, a jazz chanteuse – hell, even before she posed topless (and instantly regretted it), Canadian Lee Aaron roped in members of a bunch of Canadian bands to back her ‘Project’ on this debut album, including Triumph’s Ric Emmett, and there’s some solid and sometimes gutsy early 80s AOR on offer.

Over 30 years later it stands at least shoulder height as a good example of the genre for the time, with songs Under Your Spell, Texas Outlaw, Night Riders and the deliberately horny-sounding I Like My Rock Hard all rising above an El Cheapo production job.

She would go on to bigger and better things, and this does have the feel of a quality demo released against the artist’s will, not that it is embarrassing by any stretch.
