Shane’s Music Challenge: JETHRO TULL – 1978 – Heavy Horses
5/10

Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses cover

How ironic is it that the band named after a key figure in the Agrarian Revolution reached the apeotheosis of their pastoral folk rock with a song entitled Heavy Horses? Jethro Tull himself did invent the horse drawn seed drill and hoe before lending his name to Ian Anderson’s band of codpiece flaunting heavy folk minstrel rockers!

That title track is the highlight of this album, one of Tull’s folkiest, most acoustic records, which isn’t really up with their best.

No Lullaby and One Brown Mouse are pretty good too, but tracks like opener …And The Mouse Police Never Sleeps is a bit too ‘woo woo’ out there wacky to rate as a favourite.
